We got her in 2014 and she was fairly young then I believe. So she’s at least 7 I’d say. I can do pics and I’ll try and do YouTube. I did hear her make some noise this morning. It honestly seems like food is getting stuck. I just gave her mealworms and that’s what causes the issue.
Looking for some insight. There’s definitely something wrong with my turkey hen. She doesn’t (or can’t) make noise anymore, and she acts as if she can’t get air sometimes. And her beak and nostrils will go straight purple sometimes. I will probably have to take her in, but just wondering if...
I can try but it’s going to be very difficult. She fights it of course and even opening the eyelid it’s hard to see. I see something black though that looks like an eye. Not like the back of an eye socket.
I don’t THINK she had mucus in her nostrils but I wasn’t paying super close attention. No sneezing or anything. I do have one other bird that has been sneezing, just not her.
Can’t tell if this is sickness related or perhaps just an eye injury.
Besides being slightly “off” cuz she can only see out of one eye, I watched her drink no problem. So she seems ok otherwise.
Any ideas? I haven’t done much research yet. I literally just saw it.
Yea I understand. The floor space is clear everything else is raised up so no need to subtract. I thought I read 2-3 sq feet per bird for the coop but who knows. I’ll change up some things we’ve been talking about and see if that helps. Sure hope so!
We’re in southeast Pennsylvania and it’s been high 80s/90s for the last month or month and a half. They seem to drink warm water but I do refresh it often. They definitely prefer the colder water though! Maybe I’ll freeze some water bottles and rotate them out to keep the water a bit colder.
Coop is 12x8 which is 96 sq feet. Lots of perching area and spaces for them to perch alone as well away from others if they want. 7 nesting boxes but they probably only use 4 MAYBE 5.
I know the run is small for the amount of birds I have but that’s why they’re out every day for 90% of daylight...
I’ll have to check and see the types of vitamins both provide and maybe cut one out. I feel like they get the water vitamins more equally than the vitamins I put in their feed.
