Well, she died Friday evening. My mom's friends came to check out our new RIR pullet, and when they checked on the sick girl, she was gone. Mom (and her friends) think she had a really bad infection that didn't respond to the Tylan. RIP Berta
She's all better now...I figured out that one of her claws broke off, and she just couldn't keep her balance or something. No more limping, but this chicken is HEFTY!!!! I mean, she over-flows out of my arms when I hold her! Anyone else have such a fat, fat bird?
Its been about a week since we got the egg (you must not have read the other posts), and she's still alive, though no better (or worse). Any other suggestions?
:idunnoWe've given her 4 days of Tylan 50 at a suggestion from a fellow chicken owner, but no improvement. She's still alive, buf we're not sure for how much longer. Her stomach is now bald too. Please help!
She's still alive today (surprisingly), and I'm starting to wonder if she's an internal layer. She's only getting up and walking when she really has to, but she's staying awake (just preening herself over and over). Her face and eyelids are sort of droopy, and I can't tell if she's going blind...
Just stuck a finger up her butt again. There's nothing hard that could mean she's egg-bound, but she was abnormally hot. I'm almost wondering if she had a tumor. She walking like a drunk and has to stick her wings out to keep her balance. Any ideas on what to give a chicken with a bad fever?
