Sigh. Yes I know.
I considered many probabilities in this adventure. But I focused on the probability that Tassels would accept or murder them when I introduced them at 6 days, and the probability that they would die from Marek’s before adulthood because I did not leave it long enough for the...
Congratulations! Do you have a preference on how you will be called? Great grandpa is a bit of a mouthful especially if you are just learning to speak!
I don’t know a lot about it but from what I have read it is not so bad. Can’t be cured but many do fine and only display symptoms when stressed.
I think you can also use antibiotics to help them over the worst of it - @BY Bob will know more about that and can help when he gets here.
The sun is out and it is getting a bit warmer. Tassels and her gang are snoozing in the sun after gorging on fallen peaches.
I am still a bit anxious about Chippy’s gender. Much more comb than the others and now wattles. Also more red.
6 weeks old on Monday. WDYT?

And a necropsy is a scientific investigation not a freak show. Think of all the ‘medical examiners’ who feature in TV shows like Law & Order, NCIS etc etc.

Oh my!
Hang in there.
Your writing style is very evocative - I was almost there in the car home with you and I swear I heard your shoulder pop!
PT torture tax: Tassels standing on the treadle so the kids can eat from the rat proof feeder. As they have grown she has become more...
There is some pecking involved but not much and if it gets too animated Tassels sees off the offender.
I didn’t get my camera out in time but Cookie actually ate from in between Piglet’s legs. Piglet seemed chill about the whole thing and just kept eating.
It truly is a shocking sight when they molt.
Piglet lost her tail over about 3 hours in the afternoon. I see it beginning to regrow now - but her head and neck are now almost completely naked with just the odd feather sticking up which somehow makes it look worse.
Sylvie is heading to the same...
Oh that is interesting. I didn’t know that.
I have been astonished and delighted at the range of calls Tassels uses with the Littles and how many of them I now also understand!
No pictures as I had my hands full (of rotting peaches).
I delivered a bunch of fallen peaches to the chickens today and Tassels summoned her brood with her 'dinner is on the table' sound. Chippy and Bucky came immediately and started tucking in to peaches.
Cookie and Geronimo however did not...
Both you and @BY Bob seem very accommodating of this. Why wouldn’t you say - make another appointment when you are prepared/presentable and just hang up.
I think that is what I would do.
