Actually it's winter in my part of the world, so now worries about heat at the moment. My chooks are very friendly, and easy to pick up, it's more me just not wanting to deal with multiple stubborn chickens one after the other. Getting them to not wriggle and eat their tablet can be a challenge...
Thanks for the replies. My chickens are now over 6 months, though I am still having mild issues with coccidiosis, which I'm seeing an avian vet about on Friday, I'll show her the poo pic too. The hen I primarily suspected did normal poos today, though the other suspects didn't while I was trying...
One of my chickens did this tonight, I will try to work out who is responsible and monitor them and take further action if required, I just wanted some opinions on what I might be in for. It looks like a normal poo, just doused in mountain dew, it's super fluro yellow. Photo taken at sunset...
Glad the little one perked up :)
And thanks for the feedback on my Polish everyone, I don't mind she has some Silkie in her, as she's not for breeding or showing, just a beloved pet, so it adds to her charm.
I have a question about the blue earlobe, are they unique to Silkies? I just noticed my bearded Polish when preening (and her feathers had moved), has a light blue earlobe too. Does this mean there could be some Silkie in her genetics? There was no Polish specific thread so I thought I'd ask...
Ok, PomPom is now about 3 months old and I think she's a she, since her crest is rounded. Final one of the chicks I've been raising to confirm the gender of, just wanted some other opinions to confirm. Included a lot of pics to help, feedback appreciated, thanks very much.
My little Silkie chick Vesta is 7 or 8 weeks old now, and it might still be to early to tell, I know Silkies are tricky unlike my D'Uccles, but I'm curious and wanting some feedback from others on what sex Vesta might be, or if I need to give it more time. I love this little chicken so damn...
Thank you :) and so it's still a bit early huh? No worries. Actually I do have a Silkie chick as well, but I was expecting not to know with that one for a few months yet. Wasn't sure if Polish were easy to sex early or not, anything I should look out for that would suggest cockerel?
Wondering what sex my Polish chick, who I've affectionately dubbed 'Brush-Head' (still to be properly named), might be. Or, is it still too early to tell? Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.
I can take photos, but no I don't have any yet. I'll try to get some. She has been drinking, I'll keep an eye on that and encourage more, and wet food.
Her implant was needed due to a mix of infection, soft shelled eggs and being egg bound.
I might try a small bit of prune too, or dulcolax...
Hi all. My two year old Araucana Mabel is I think, constipated. She's passing stools, but there is a bit of straining and they come out in several small balls instead of one big mass. She's otherwise fine. Diet has been fairly normal, no major changes. She got her new suprelorin implant on...
