Shewww.....with this cold I'm glad I canceled my order of chicks for the fist week in February and decided to wait until April. If this weather keeps up, I don't think the chicks would survive the trip!
I have decided to buy locally from Crazy Chicken Ranch (out of Capac, MI) in April. She...
So…..procrastination was my downfall with my chicken coop. I had raised my 16’ X 12’ shed 1 ½ feet off the ground (by myself and with a 3.5 ton car jack) but did not get it completely level. Now I’m paying for it while working on my coop. I cannot finish anything else until I get the shed...
Ohhh.....one more thing....if you call DTE mad about your power, and get a Jennifer.....please be nice. My wife works for DTE help center and she will be getting allot of cranky people on the phone today.
Thanks in advance!
I hope everybody is ok this morning. I lost power around 7:00pm last night and it's still not on. On the way to the Base there were downed trees everwhere. I think i'm going to leave early just to keep an eye on my sump pump.
Take care all and have a safe day!
I wish you the best Opa. Hopefully when they put you out you can dream of the hunt of a lifetime. My bretheren and I will shoot off a round in honor of you at noon tomorrow.
Opa.....I wish you the best on a speedy recovery! The possibility of missing opening day must be torture. You seem like a tough guy....I'm sure you'll pull through with flying colors!
It's not like the fan one(which I think your talking about)...I believe it's just a passive method of releasing heat. I didn't think of the fan one though....good idea...might have to add one or two of those.....thanks!
Hey Opa...or anybody else...you know those round roof vents you see that are about 12 inches across.....I had a thought.....what if I turned those upside down and mounted them to the ceiling of my coop for ventilation? Does my theory have any validity?
Oh.....Happy Veterans Day to all of you who served....and also to those who served at home while your loved one was deployed. You are Veterans in my book also!
I put lights and plugs in the coop today....just before it started to .....ummm...rain fluffy cold cotton. Good thing I won't get chicks until spring. But at least I can work on the coop when I get home from work and it's dark out.
I finally started the coop today. I still need a couple windows to put in there. Hopefully this will be a HI-TECH coop when I get done with it. Have any of you had any luck with those water nipple drinkers? I have some great ideas for them but I'm just not sure if they are worth the effort...
I am/was an electrician before I went into the military (I’m still a member of I.B.E.W. Local 58). I would suggest running a 12 gauge wire from the hose to the chicken coop (unless you’re running other items besides basic lighting and plugs). Voltage drop starts to occur when you get around...
So I added up the “necessities” for my 8’X12’ chicken coop that is going to take up half my already built shed. The grand total is $609.59. Am I going overboard? This is just the lumber, insulation, electrical, and misc items. That total doesn’t even have the outside run cost figured...
