I understand you are NEW here. So I would like to offer you some reality.
Chance for someone willing to take in a cockerel in trade for a pullet, are VERY SLIM.
That doesn't mean that there aren't peeps that would be willing to gift you a pullet.
Most cockerels are rehomed in this forum...

I never calculated, or kept track. I also purchase (year round) Wild bird seed. and BOSS for squirrels. Not to mention all the Cat food to feed my feral rescues, and feral visitors.
Now back to getting dog food, again, after a time period, of no dogs. But doggie is a small one, so not all...
If you have chickens and ducks, consider getting AllFlock feed. Ducks do need additional Niacin, and Lysine. Chicken feed may be low on those ingredients.
That is what I use for my chickens. It is 2% calcium. I have layers, and non layers, so I provide additional calcium cracked oyster...

I did not suggest you get a 3/8 inch clothes line to do the job.
The 4 inch Nylon strap has a WWL, of 5400 pounds. (working load limit).
That translates too at least 3 times to reach...
