Rooster with patch of weird looking skin on belly: bright red, swollen, wrinkly

I have a 10 month old gold lace wyandotte rooster with a patch of skin on his belly that is bright red, swollen, and wrinkly. I have never seen skin like this before. I’ve attached three photos. They were taken at night, as my chickens are not tame enough to allow themselves to be picked up...

Where to find heavy duty buckets for DIY hanging feeders/waterers

I have the same problem with buckets from Lowe's or Home Depot. I jotted down all the suggestions for stronger plastic ones. I make my own waterers just the way I like them, so I don't want to go with anything metal or premade. Following this thread. :)

    Mice in the coop!

Okay, so there will be a lot of them... but what harm would they actually do in a chicken coop? Genuine question.

    Mice in the coop!

Other than the fact that the mice are eating some of the chicken feed, why is it a problem for them to be in the coop?

Breed ID on 2 month old “mystery chick” rooster

Thank you both for the extra information! 😊 I was open to having a rooster, but am happier with another hen, and I do love those beautiful blue eggs! So this is good news.

Breed ID on 2 month old “mystery chick” rooster

Pullet, really?! I’m not very good at sexing, and I thought the neck feathers were pointy enough to mean this was a male. Easter eggers aren’t rare and the mystery chick is supposed to be a rare breed… 🤔

(No longer need ID) Big order with 27 chicks of 12-13 breeds

Well, after all that effort, today I went to visit the chicks again (they're being raised at my friend's house until they are old enough to live outside), and with their wings fully feathered out I was able to sort out every single one. 🤦‍♀️ 😅

(No longer need ID) Big order with 27 chicks of 12-13 breeds

There is only ONE chick that is mostly black with feathered feet, and it looks like we have THREE Gold Lace Wyandottes, so I think that was a switcheroo done by McMurray's.

Another clean water question - does overflowing the tub get most of the muck to float out?

I don’t have ducks yet, and I’ve been doing a little reading and asking around to prep myself. One person whose yard I saw had a small (think small kiddy pool) repurposed fountain for her 3 ducks. I asked how she kept it clean, and she said it was easy - she had a hose that would refill the...

It would be helpful to see examples of the 3 day old chick wings and the even vs uneven feathers.
