I have a 10 month old gold lace wyandotte rooster with a patch of skin on his belly that is bright red, swollen, and wrinkly. I have never seen skin like this before. I’ve attached three photos. They were taken at night, as my chickens are not tame enough to allow themselves to be picked up...
I have the same problem with buckets from Lowe's or Home Depot. I jotted down all the suggestions for stronger plastic ones. I make my own waterers just the way I like them, so I don't want to go with anything metal or premade. Following this thread. :)
Thank you both for the extra information! 😊 I was open to having a rooster, but am happier with another hen, and I do love those beautiful blue eggs! So this is good news.
Pullet, really?! I’m not very good at sexing, and I thought the neck feathers were pointy enough to mean this was a male.
Easter eggers aren’t rare and the mystery chick is supposed to be a rare breed… 🤔
Well, after all that effort, today I went to visit the chicks again (they're being raised at my friend's house until they are old enough to live outside), and with their wings fully feathered out I was able to sort out every single one. 🤦♀️ 😅
There is only ONE chick that is mostly black with feathered feet, and it looks like we have THREE Gold Lace Wyandottes, so I think that was a switcheroo done by McMurray's.
