I buy 50# bags of Southern States at Agway in Clarks Summit. I think possibly Dana's Hardware in Tunkhannock or the Agway in Tunkhannock have it and there is a place in Dallas, I think it is called Hoofs and Paws. I can check with a friend, she is chickenless this year, but she lives out that...
It may sound silly, but a big part of the reason I got chickens is to watch them, I enjoy it and find it relaxing. Where I put my coop and run was largely decided by where I could see it from my kitchen window. I will enjoy the eggs and maybe the meat, I will definitely enjoy the entertainment.
Hi and welcome to BYC. I'm a Pennsylvania girl too, Lackawana County. There is a thread called Pennsylvania Unite that you should check out also :)
What kind of chicks did you get?
That makes me feel a little better. Hopefully at least 3 of the roosters will become aggravating and then I wont feel so bad about getting rid of them!

Sounds like a wonderful plan, an excuse to enjoy my coffee and watch my chickens! Even though I might have to sit on a ladder to get a good view of the nestboxes, I think I would still enjoy it and my OCD part would love having that extra info!
I'm a newcomer. I have hatchery stock. My RIR are small compared to the Buff Orpington's I have and the Golden Comet that was given to me (a sex link I think). That being said, they are the flightiest birds I have, don't know if it is the size or personality, but they were the first escaping...
