    Porcelain D'Uccle X Silkie Sexing

My vote would be a cockerel. The chick is standing bery upright, but its hard to be 100% certain because being a silkie cross, its going to develop slowly. I would not go as far as saying 100% female, definitely leaning towards male.

How do you sex a chicken?

They're too old to vent sex and you should really Only vent sex if you're professionally trained to do so, you can easily injure or kill the chick if you don't know what youre doing. That being said, the breed you have, you have cannot be definitely sexed at this moment. You can wait a few weeks...

    Which Hatchery do you recommend?

That's why you quarantine any and all animals you bring home. And treat if you can, cull if you can't treat. You can get illness from hatcheries too. There was a very recent salmonella outbreak that stemmed from Mt. Healthy, causing thousands of flocks to contract the disease.

    Which Hatchery do you recommend?

Personally I would shop around for local chicken keepers. You can even put an ad up on CL, saying you're looking for chicks. Sometimes you can find what you're looking for within driving distance. That way you're not only helping stimulate your local economy, you don't have to hassle with...

"No need to quarantine?" New chickens

Anytime I sell hens or cocks myself, I always, always tell the people to quarantine. NOT because I would sell a sick bird (I could not do that in good conscious) but because it may have something I don't know about, or the change of flora and fauna could cause it to get sick and infect other...

Need help identifying squirrel with possible mange

Congratulations! This was from months ago, good job trying to stir the pot, bravo. The squirrel did in fact have mange, which is an extremely unpleasant disease that is extremely contagious to the other squirrels. I buried it to prevent the spread of the disease.

    Staggered hatch

I only had biddies at the time, but I just adopted some rescued hens. They have signs of rooster wear on them, but I've been having a really hard time looking at the eggs telling if theyre fertile, I can't find the bullseye anywhere. But I just adopted them a few days ago. I'm worming them right...
