Thankyou!! I sometimes just enjoy writing in my free time. I really appreciate that you enjoyed it!
I know, it really stunk to loose them all. I was happy at least that I learned something from it, Especially since I planned on getting some more rare breeds. 😋 I'm way over obsessed with my...
I know, that's actually what I was interested in too. Its very interesting to follow along to see how they naturally develop. Yes though, mostly hawks, and sometimes fox. this time of year most of them sleep in the shed at night, which I lock and then open up in the morning.
After looking through some old-er) photos, I realized Its been EIGHT years (2017) since our earliest flock began the free range life. I am creating this mostly just for personal reasons and to save some eventful memories old and new, and remember some of our flock members.
We'll see how...
Its been awhile since I have updated myself on this project. Your birds are looking amazing though!!! I have found that as long as I supplement their diet the bigger birds have a bit higher survival rate against predators compared to their smaller peers. despite having less jumping and flight...
Its been awhile, I'll look to see if I can remember, I'll get back with you It's getting late. That will be the challenge! find who I was vetting. 😉 I'm kidding. I hope they were ok with me practically vetting them. 😬.
Did you actually find the answers to these questions before asking. If so,that's dedication! I use to challenge myself with stuff like this and it would take hours of scrolling find one answer. (I'm slow).

No, I keep it inside with fairly stable temperature. I have observed the incubator more closely during the last hatch and the temperature was fluctuating by a few degrees every day. I'm beginning to think it's something wrong with the circuit board since I know they can be finicky. Thinking...
I used the medical therm with water to calibrate my incubator thermometers. Each thermometer reads about a three degree difference, so I'll take note of that. I don't know if that's enough difference to kill the eggs or not?
Non hatched , but from what I learned so far it could...
Thank you, I will look into weighing the eggs.
I'm using a hygrometer I had bought from the local pet store. The incubator doesn't have a built in hygrometer.
From what I was reading here . https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/no-humidity.1445384/ Maybe this is...
Thank you very much.
Just honest curiosity , why wouldn't a hen be an accurate calibration?
My guess is too many variables where and how you place the therm under the hen.
(Or maybe you mean ,this is not the place to ask this)
