Can i give 5 month old peachicks heat?

No, sorry to give the bad news. Your opal BS is a male. If you look at the pattern it is identical to your India blue blackshoulder. The “U” shape on the saddle feathers is a dead give away. Here is what a opal blackshoulder hen should look like. Pictures aren’t the best. @KsKingBee probably...

Can i give 5 month old peachicks heat?

Not to be a negative Nancy.. but.. if it’s the same 2 birds you posted a pic of. You won’t get anything from the Opal blackshoulder and blackshoulder because they are both males. Blackshoulder and India blue will all be India blue split blackshoulder.

Can i give 5 month old peachicks heat?

They’ll be fine if they have a dry and draft free area to get out of the weather. I like to get my chicks off heat as soon as possible. They grow and feather out faster. Unless you have late season hatched chicks. Then that’s a whole different situation..

I like the male. My Spalding BS male is also white eyed. A good and a bad thing. I need to get a nice Spalding BS male that isn’t white eyed for future use..

I bought a charcoal WE male earlier this year. I had him for a month before I found him dead on the roost. I bought him as a “4 year old” but he was actually 8-9 years old. Oh well. Hard lesson to learn. LOL Hopefully this charcoal I hatched will be healthier since both his parents are splits.

So my odd colored chicks are charcoal after talking to Leggs. Tan coloring is Spalding influence. So I have Spalding charcoal WE split blackshoulder. A special chick indeed. First pic is the Spalding charcoal with Spalding opals.

I have the parents here. I have a pen setup that should produce Spalding opal, Spalding taupe and Spalding purple in different patterns. But the male is a 2 year old and hasn’t given me fertilized eggs. The BSWE chick is from the same pen as the chick fanning. Opal chick is from a Spalding opal...

    Peachick Show 2023

Who wants to guess the color of the chick fanning? Parents are a Spalding blackshoulder white eyed male and 2 Spalding white eyed split BS hens. It must be a sex linked color but the seller is adamant that the daddy is not split to a sex linked color. I know the colors of the 4 on the left...

    Pheasants with pigeons?

Pictures of the pigeons? I have pictures of them. This website isn’t exactly iPhone friendly. Lol I’ve raised peafowl for about 5 years now, but I’ve never had pigeons in with them. They’ve had pens side by side and haven’t shown any aggression.

    Pheasants with pigeons?

Has anyone kept pheasants with pigeons? I’m looking at buying a pair of Lady Amherst’s. I wanted to know if it would be advisable to house them with pigeons? Their inside housing would be 5ftx8ft and the outside pen 10ftx20ft. There’s only 5 pigeons in the pen at the moment. The pigeons are...

    Electric poultry fencing

Thank you all for the replies! Forgot to mention in my first post. The geese will be housed in a 8x12 shed and have a 15x25 wire fenced yard. They'll stay in there while we’re away from home. We have the typical predators here. Opossums, raccoons, stray cats and dogs are the biggest problem...
