    What to name two pekins?

If you're a Disney fan you could go with the classic couple if not you could name them after snow or something else that is the same color of their feathers.

    Cutting Feathers

Clipping birds feathers is a painless procedure, all I can think it could cause is stress if the chickens are handled carelessly, now if you cut their wings it would be inhumane and painful. My chickens got used to it when they were just pullets, and consider that my garden is not fenced off...

Official BYC Poll: Are You Comfortable Injecting Vaccines or Medications Into Your Birds?

It's just an example, diseases are everywhere just because you don't have Newcastle doesn't mean they can't catch another one. You know the saying "prevention is better than cure".

Official BYC Poll: Are You Comfortable Injecting Vaccines or Medications Into Your Birds?

That's a shame, I lost an entire flock to Newcastle, I hadn't vaccinated yet, I've vaccinated my current flock once with directions from the vet.

Official BYC Poll: Which of these health problems has affected your flock?

I lost an entire flock to Newcastle, it happened before they were vaccinated. Had to desinfect and wait for a while to get new birds. I also had a mild case of coccidiosis in my current flock, however as I elaborate in one of my threads, one bird got sick and died, and we (the vet and I) do not...

Thank you for the wishes. No I don't have any other farm animals, only a dog, but I try to keep them away from eachother. She didn't have a swollen face or comb, she didn't cough either. And yes she was vaccinated for Marek. No I do not have her body, I did contact the vet to do a necropsy, but...

Help identifying a disease in chicken

I'm treating them with a combination of enrofloxacin and ambroxol, in the water, 1g per liter, that's what the vet prescribed. I only felt her crop once, and it seemed empty, as if she hadn't eaten. And yes, she has treated chickens before, but is more focused on dogs and cats.

Help identifying a disease in chicken

    1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) A pullet, barred rock, 17 weeks old. Yes it did feel thinner than the others. 2) What is the behavior, exactly. She was letargic, tilted her head, was, reluctant to move, had diarrhea...

Reddish poop in brooder, possible coccidiosis?

Thank you for your answer, I went out in the morning looking for chicken nipples but I think they're not in use here because none of the stores had it, however the veterinarian also recommended Corid, the only place I found chicken nipples for sale was online, and in a stack of 10 :hmm
