I live in Oviedo on the end of town where there are wild roosters/chickens. Our town sign is a rooster and Oviedo is literally known for the wild ones. I’m not sure about HOAs- they have their individual laws. But I’m not thinking anyone is going to say anything about owning poultry here!
I’d guess Roo on Nutmeg- but he’s beautiful! You can tell by the tail and comb. The immature Roos are very sweet usually to people. Rosemary is a pullet. She’s beautiful as well! I can’t tell on the barred rock.
I agree with all the above posts. To add- that one may just have a big personality! We had one like that too- now she’s been the kindest, first one to lay eggs, also lets us hold her and is most social. They are all different! :welcome:loveLove the chicks! They grow up so fast!
Both hens (pullets) in my opinion! We have one! Pretty girls! :frow
Although your two do have the more pointy feathers in the neck and the tails do seem darker and straighter, so I see how this is a question. So maybe Roos. I’m not sure. My guess is pullets though!
We finally got our first 5 eggs today-November 1!! Not sure which girls are laying? So excited!! They’re a bit small but well formed and look good for first eggs! We congratulated the girls! They got a lot of treats today!!:love:woot
I’m so inspired by your beautiful testimony! Thank you! And God is so Good! It’s been 5 years for me of healing and I’m just now ready to consider dating. But I’ve prayed and when God is ready to send the Right man into my life He will! I always choose the Wrong one by not listening to God. And...
Oh she’s so cute! :loveShe looks like mine did a few weeks ago! I love how they grow so fast! We feed lots of mealworms, treats like veggies, black oil sunflower seeds, and pellets (Purina). They also free range every day. I’m sure she’s going to look the same! Good for you for rescuing her...
Hello! I’m a single mom twice divorced- 5 children, 3 daughters from my first husband and 2 sons from my 2nd. I’m a spirit filled born again Christian who loves Jesus and is filled with the Holy Spirit!
I’ve been through a lot with marriage. I will pray for you. In retrospect I believe that God...
I’ve never seen mice. We have a large feral cat colony in our neighborhood ( and yard :barnie) and hawks who stalk our chickens so I don’t think mice would stand a chance around here!
He’s so beautiful! :eek:Wow! Yes I see there’s a big difference! Thank you for the picture. She is still a pullet. All of the girls are. No eggs yet! We are waiting and they get lots of treats and pellet layer food , oyster shell, mealworms, black oil sunflower seeds, grit, and free range daily...
Thank you! I’m so glad she’s a hen! We love her and she’s a great part of the flock! I am very pleased with Cackle Hatchery! I’m going to post first egg pictures!! We are waiting and checking daily and showing the girls the “dummy eggs”!
Hi I’m also from FL and I am responding to the questions in the thread below!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am not new to owning chickens. This is my second time. My first time I raised 3 Production Reds and 1 Barred Rock. This time my mom and I are raising...
With all that you need to do to make it preditor proof and weather proof you probably should consider building it yourself or having someone help build it. Certainly use pressure treated plywood. Heavy gauge 1/4 “ hardware cloth galvanized. Also nail in the hardware cloth not staples. There’s...
Thank you! :frow:yesss: That’s what I was wondering and I was comparing the two to each other. I guess it shows each hen is unique! This helps so much!
