    YO GEORGIANS! :)

I was attacked in my yard by two Dobermans. I had to get into my van to get away from them. I called Fulton Co. Animal Control, and the police, and waited 45 minutes in my van with the dogs jumping on the drivers door trying to get at me. When Animal control came he actually tried to catch the...

Personally, I don't like the idea of "mixing" breeds. Unfortunately I think that there are probably far more mixed breeds being sold as purebred birds than people imagine.(the "blue with gold hackles and absolutely no white pullet", recently referenced, IMO is probably an example) The Swedish...

If you end up with extra roosters, I would seriously be interested for my project EE pen! Keep me in mind. Thanks!

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

Where are you located? I'm about 20 miles southeast of Atlanta in Henry County; which seems to be a no-mans-land for livestock other than horses. [/quot I'm close to Hartsfield/Jackson. My family is in Stockbridge and McDonough.

Its hard to say for certain what colors you will get because of the genetic diversity of the breed. That being said, you have a blue based cockerel, and blue and black based pullets in these photos. I would think that you should get a pretty good selection of colors, and probably some splash...

I'm no geneticist, but speaking from my own personal experience, the "splash" gene can be a little problematic. If a lot of your birds carry it your flock will pretty white. Of my original 7 chicks, 4 roosters and 3 pullets, 3 of the roosters and 2 of the pullets were splash. The 3rd pullet was...

He is beautiful. You will be shocked how much he will change in the next few weeks! He is definitely blue based, but will be mostly red/gold at maturity. Most of the white, will go away, but he will probably be nicely flowered.

It looks to me that you are correct. The first is definitely a roo, and the last four appear to be pullets. Is the last one older? She seems to be more mature than the previous three, with more developed comb and wattles. Her overall coloring, and feather shape, would suggest a pullet though...

First let me say welcome! The birds in the photos look like nice specimens, and do look like pure Swedish Flower Hens. I guess I should say "in my opinion"! Everything I say in this post is "in my opinion", and not meant to be offensive to anyone. I love this breed and highly recommend it. I do...
