    A work in progress:

Thanks! My dad always says the same the thing! When I was a kid and wanted him to buy something I hated that but now that I am an adult on a thin budget I am quite thankful he did!

    A work in progress:

They kind of are! They walk up the steps I screwed into the front of the slide but they hop on the sides and slide down! Amadeo, the rooster, paces the bar at the top of the slide like he's supervising his girls. Thanks for all the nice compliments. I am very proud and excited! I became so...

    A work in progress:

Thanks! They are hilarious in there! They walk up the steps and slide down the sides. My son and I had a picnic dinner so we could watch the show! :-) I really need help naming it! My son is desperate to paint a sign for the post on the end!

    A work in progress:

I needed some more housing for my layers (and their husband, of course!) but had no money to spend. Well, I had an unused swingset, a scrap of tin roof, lumber and a door I salvaged when I tore down my ex-husband's recording studio, and lots of soundproofing rubber mats. I threw it all together...

Precious! Looks a lot like my first one! I think it will make a very happy home for some birdie-kids! Good job!!

One-eyed chick, 5 days old. Need help!

I don't let any of mine breed. Her eye seems to be doing better and opens all the way today. I am going to give her a fighting chance. Unless my animals are suffering I don't cull. Nature/God/whatever-you-choose-to-call-it does some pretty amazing things. She might just make it. I have a 3...

One-eyed chick, 5 days old. Need help!

Hi all! I have a precious chick who arrived with only one eye (there isn't even a spot for the missing eye) and an eye that doesn't open all the way. She seems quite perky when I can get some food in her and I really think she can see but I need to know how to get the most helpful foods into her...

Ideal started taking their 2010 chick orders.....

I placed a very similar order to yours! 25 Ameraucanas, and a handful each of gold sex-links, Cali whites, and buff orps. I didn't see this thread and, like a dummy, posted a seperate thread! OOPS! Just TOO excited! Mine will be here the 27th or 29th. Can't recall now.

    I ordered my spring chickens!!!

I am so excited!!! I just ordered my new hens! I am going to keep half and sell half in the spring. I ordered from Ideal for the first time. I have only had experience with Murray McM and everyone in my family has ONLY used Murray McM so I am a little nervous but SO EXCITED!!! They will be here...

Last chance to sex my Light Brahmas

Regardless of the redder comb, the smaller one looks girlier to me but I am very new at this. Her head looks kind of round and narrow and the other looks a hair angular. Perhaps that is just because of the size difference, though.

Anyone wanna help guess breed and gender?

The second and forth one came in a batch of straight run black stars. The speckled ones are the roos, right? Those suckers are HUGE! And the others came in a brown layer variety or with the black sex links. Whatcha think?

sneezing and nasal discharge - should I worry? UPDATE: FULL RECOVERY!!

Shooting rats with a .22 is most satisfying. There is nothing good about those little suckers. If that's not an option, consider the RatZapper or something similar. It draws them in and kills instantly. We used it to get a GIANT rat that lived in our house before us. He didn't get the memo when...

Me, too. I think I am about to order a little batch. I just MUST!

Tips to raising a GOOD rooster?

My roos have all been sweethearts. I handled them alot from very early on, gave them treats while they sat on my shoulders, and carried them around when I did little yard jobs. I know people have had cuddled roos turn out mean but I have loved on mean birds til they chilled out. It may be hit...

Oh, I am so relieved! I just read this whole thread holding my breath, hoping it had a happy ending! Keep us posted as she returns to her usual, perky self! And give yourself a treat for all your work!!! A manicure, an ice cream date or bit of canned dog food maybe? Hooray for Antoinette!!!
