So sorry for your losses and that you are having to deal with all this. Thankful that you were not hurt, and sounds like it could have been much worse.
Here are a few pics of our run again. It is about 16’ x 50’. I am planning to add a few stumps for more vertical space.
It was 1 Sapphire Olive Egger, 1 Blue Laced Wyandotte, and 1 Silkie that I lost young this year.
Oh no! So sorry to hear this.
Oh that is so scary. Fingers crossed...
I guess either one is a possibility. My initial flock of 10 was vaccinated for Marek’s, but since then all the rest have been purchased from one of the local feed stores at between 1-4 days old and are not vaccinated. But I thought with Marek’s I would see other symptoms.
I’m not familiar at...
We have a few poisonous weeds but are careful to make sure none grow where they can reach. Definitely have snakes, as well as scorpions, spiders, etc. No obvious signs of anything but could have been a small bite Heat is also a possibility, but we have had hotter/more humid days this year.
This...
Lost a silkie yesterday
I am several days behind on reading this thread, and it is difficult to write because I am still having a lot of trouble with my hands. But needed to tell y’all that Snowball died suddenly yesterday for no apparent reason. She was only 5 months old.
I will miss you my...
Yes, they are. But IMO at least one of mine was definitely more buff/orange than yellow when they were little. That is why I was surprised that they all ended up as white.
Temperature was normal. I really wish I had pressed to Xray and MRI while I was at the ER. But it was late, and the ducks/chickens were still out for the second night in a row. There is a very slim chance of anything happening between the way we have things set up and the dog patrolling part of...
I am so very egg sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful girl. You did your very best for her, and I honestly believe she was not in any pain when she passed thanks to you. :hugs
Let us know how it goes with the dog owner
When I got my silkie chicks back in April, I was sooooo hopeful that...
I already take 1600 mg daily of Gabapentin for my fibromyalgia. That is part of what is so frustrating. I am already taking the maximum dose of what they would normally give me for these symptoms.
It is definitely worse in late afternoon and into the night.
I’m having a really rough week. Spent several hours at the ER Tuesday night and then again on Wednesday. Thought I might have another DVT Tuesday but tests were negative. Wednesday had cardiac symptoms but all those tests were normal range. Still having numbness/tingling/burning pain in both...
We can order from Amazon, but it is delivered by FedEx or USPS and takes a few days. We had an actual Amazon Prime driver when we first moved here, but I guess they decided there wasn’t enough business for that. Several of my neighbors got mad and cancelled Amazon Prome after that.
What about...
Pearl, Nestle, and Lucy seem to have been practicing their “undead” look. They tried several poses. Nestle needs a little more work on his.
Tails of three other aspiring victims can also be seen on the left in the first picture, then teo of them leave.
“Ready class? Let’s begin”
“Nestle...
Well, they might want to research what some of the local Mallard breeders and hatcheries/stores do to mark their tame Mallards and copy it. The sooner the better in case it is removing the rear toe, which I assume is easier the younger the duck is.
Thanks. They really are little princesses...
I hope they can get a friend for the duck. Do you have any idea what breed it is? Some ducks are illegal to possess unless marked that they were bred in captivity.
@bgmathteach You have mother ducks, right? The reason I ask is because I learned that if you don’t have a mother duck to waterproof...
First eggs!
So here are my girls who I have figured out are laying. A few others also might be but not sure who yet.
Sydney was the first, on August 2, at 16.5 weeks old
Pearl wasn’t far behind, on August 5 at 17 weeks.
Them came one of the sillies, either Ivory or Snowball. Pretty sure it...
My husband is an expert at repurposing. Which is probably why our property looks like a scene from Sanford and Son, because he saves everything in case it comes in handy some day. 😂
(For you young whippersnappers who might not get the reference, Sanford and Son was a tv show about a junk yard.)...
We put thin laminate board up between the conduit after that, and a cage divider in front of the thermostat control. Lol
Also built safety cages around the fans.
That reminds me, I need to take a wire brush and clean the cages again for more airflow.
OMG, my post reappeared.
Here are the parts I couldn’t remember.
It was you I wanted to ask what your coop scoop look like, and where did you get it?
Don’t have any rafter chickens because I don’t have any rafters. But they sure have found plenty of other high places to roost that they should...
