3 hens and a coop for sale $200

We are moving and want to rehome our three Easter Egger girls and their coop. We built the coop 4 years ago from scratch and it is very heavy, might need to be taken apart to move. Two of the hens (Jan and Cindy) are 3 years old in March. I raised these two from babies. The third hen (Alice)...

    No eggs for 6 weeks

We got our original 3 pullets (at 10 weeks old) from the same person who raises her own. Ginger came from a Craigslist ad and he had gotten his from Tractor Supply. The original 3 were two Silver Laced Wyandotte's and the white Leghorn. Tammy (Wyandotte got a lump growing on the left side od...

    No eggs for 6 weeks

Thanks! We will just let nature take it's course. Nice to know that it is not unusual though. Ginger is our favorite and I hope she makes 7 years old. We had two Wyandotte's that only made a year and a Leghorn that made 1.5. She is our oldest. We got her at 10 weeks old. The EE'ers we got...

    No eggs for 6 weeks

Thank you. I figured it was mostly winter and molting. Ginger though since May really dropped. I looked and through the summer laid 9, then 2, then 0, then 5, then nothing since. At just slightly over two years old, I was surprised. She has laid a total of 494 eggs though!

    No eggs for 6 weeks

I was curious if others are experiencing no eggs. I have 4 hens. Three are 1.5 years old and all of them recently molted and are back to fully feathered for about 2 weeks now, no eggs from any of them since late October. They are all Easter Eggers. The oldest hen (will be 3 in March) hasn't...

    Egg Laying From Roost Bar

Thanks for the feedback. She is our most social bird and still is. We just love her. She follows me around the yard when I'm cleaning up poop, comes in the coop to mess up everything I just cleaned and neatly leveled out. Always first to run up to me when I come out the door. She is still...

    Egg Laying From Roost Bar

Yes, the Golden Comet (Ginger) is the two year old. I have not noticed molting in her. She is very active, her head is loosing feathers though. More red skin showing than before. She is one of our original chickens. We got her at 12 weeks old in summer of 2014. The other three I raised from...

    Egg Laying From Roost Bar

I have just started having a similar issue. I have 4 hens (three Easter Eggers and one Golden Comet). Three are one year old and one is two years old. My older hen has started laying only every 5 or 6 days now when she used to lay 29 out of 30 days. I've had several soft shelled eggs and...

Leghorn thinning head feathers, normal? Pics included

I just noticed my white Leghorns feathers on her head are thinning and more of her red comb area is exposed. Is this normal? She is 1.5 years old. She is laying normally, active. We have a Golden Comet that we got at the same time as her and three EE'ers that are 7 months old. No one else...

    Worming chickens?

From my experience (which is not much), I took some to my vet which was really expensive. Won't do that again! The next time, I took it to our Nevada Dept of Agriculture. They will do a fecal for $9.00. I just gathered some fresh poop up, put it in zip lock bags and took it in. I will...

    Nevadans?

Welcome ChicNGoat!! I live in south Reno. I'm out in Washoe Valley 2x week as I volunteer and Canine Rehabilitation Center & Sanctuary. We've had chickens for a little over a year. Our older hens are a Leghorn and Golden Comet and our three new girls (just started laying) are Easter...

Our first chicken egg, ever! (Video)

Hey, congrats! It never gets old. We have two hens that have been laying for about a year now and three new girls that just started laying last week (one still hasn't). The new ones are easter eggers so the eggs are green! The size has been 33 grams so far which is small. Yes, the eggs are...

    Easter Egger club!

Mine are 20.5 weeks old and not laying yet. They fluff around in the coop shavings, go into a nest and sit, in and out of the nest...nothing yet. So anxious for green and /or blue eggs. We have a white leghorn and a Golden Comet that are over a year old, so white and brown eggs.

    Egg laid on coop floor

I only wash mine if they are dirty for some reason (either a little poopy or real dirt from a dust bath) and use tepid water as mentioned above. I feel so blessed that both of mine went right to the nest (straw in the nest, shavings in the coop) from the get go. I have three 19 week old EE'ers...

Who else is waiting for that first egg?

We are waiting on our 19 week old EE'ers to start laying (3 of them)! We have two to other hens that are 1.5 years old and lay nearly every day. I feel like an expectant grandmother just waiting. They go into the coop and fluff shavings around and one, Jan, even goes into the nest too, but so...

    Easter Egger club!

Ever since they were babies, they have had the same markings. Jan has always been the darkest, both head and body, Marcia was always the lightest and still is, Cindy was always the biggest/tallest with darker body but lighter head. Cindy has no fluffy cheeks either and the other two do.
