wow this sucks, i never knew wood ash did this, i run a wood stove and my birds have mites i just saw, guess im going outside and dousing them.

yes it is one hen per group of eggs with feeder and waterer. closed off from the rest. its protected quiet and darker than the coop itself
we've had 6 die now a 7th is hatching now.. i can hear it chirp but i dont want to interfeer..yet..will it jsut die as well? waste of life;[

the HENS are supposedly raising them but the first two are dead..i heard one chipping so i left her alone and came back and it was trampled.

we have about 5 broody hens, we were raising 20 chicks as soon as they hatched but the first two have died..
anyone give us some advice? as its happening currently this is kind of a rush..and our first time doing it this way.

but what can you do about the black marks in the pores? from black feathering? i noticed them with this new breed im raising now. i was used to white birds and obviously this never happened. and we've gotten better at picking so that no black marks happen...
thats freaking brilliant.
even if you just use regular sand. chicken poop is actually not that bad as they dont have pee/poop. sand would work fine.

Yeah I did a deer once the girlfriend hit it. I went to pick it up and hung it up like beer can says. The rotary cuff had broken the intestines in two locations due to a break. And im glad hung it head up. i would have had a "messy" experience otherwise..... lol
