    Sexing Easter Eggers

How about these guys? I’m pretty certain that the one on the far left is a roo and the center one with blue legs is a pullet. However the partridge ones are confusing me. They’re all Easter eggers so there is so much variance! What do you guys think for the two with yellow legs? Roos or hens?

    Pullet or cockerel

I am. It is in an area that only she is in right now and all of my other hens are almost 5 years old and laying much bigger eggs.

    Pullet or cockerel

Well turns out that this little one is older than I thought and is absolutely a pullet as she laid an egg yesterday 😂

    Pullet or cockerel

Is this sapphire gem a pullet or cockerel? I don’t have an exact age as I just got it about a week ago from a neighbor who didn’t want it. But I think it’s around 10-12 weeks

    Off center beak

Thanks guys! In my 6 years of having chickens I had never seen this before. So far she’s growing at the same rate as the others but as you said I’m not sure that will continue. It does also seem like the top park might need some filing. I’ll keep an eye on her thanks so much

    Off center beak

Has anyone ever had a chicken with an off center beak? I have a chick who for the last several weeks is eating and drinking fine but her beak is totally crooked. It almost looks like her top jaw is too long but she’s only a month old. And her bottom jaw is cocked out to the side. Any idea what...

    Semi-broody Cayuga

I have a one year old Cayuga who has been laying for a few months now. The last two days I had had trouble finding her and I thought she had been taken by a predator. However mid day I found her sitting on a clutch of eggs in a nest she made in some tall grass and bushes. I watched her and she...

    Ducks

Any idea on what these guys might be? Here are pictures from when they were ducklings and what they look like now at about 3mo.

    Silkie Hen or Roo

I’m having the same issue with my buff silkie. She does not have the big comb that my other silkie roo has but she does not lay (but she’s only 8 mo) and my roo does not attempt to mount her at all where as he’s been on all my other girls for months. That said she is my only silkie and my other...

    Cockerel or hen

Thanks. Yeah I kind of suspected as much. He looks just like his dad! Im still new to early sexing though so I wanted a second opinion. Its fine if he's a roo though, they're not restricted where I live luckily so he's safe haha

    Very aggressive drake

Thanks! I do think there is just a lot going on for him right now. He was really sweet the first week or so and in that time we did just sit by him and let him approach and we gave him treats and such then after that first week he started getting more and more irritated. As you mentioned though...

    Very aggressive drake

I have a Pekin drake whom I adopted a few weeks ago. He has become increasingly aggressive with any person who is in the yard. He does not have issues with the young Pekin female he occasionally spends time with but he has started attacking any person who comes in to feed or water the ducks. I...

    Incubator/hatching related questions

Is there a time when I should carefully try to open the egg to see if the chick is alive but the humidity made the membrane too hard? How can I check for life accurately?

    Incubator/hatching related questions

Two more hatched two days later. On my last candle on day 17 I had 7 that looked good out of my original 9. But it's been another full day since my last chick hatched and so far no new pips. I'm going to wait until day 25 at least before calling it. I think having to take the other chicks out...

    Incubator/hatching related questions

This is my first hatch using an incubator. I had one chick hatch yesterday which was day 18 only. It has been almost 24 hours since that chick hatched and so far no one else has even pipped. Since she was early should I still expect the others in a few days. Should I remove her so she doesn't...

    Early hatch out

Thank you so much! Thats exactly what I was leaning towards doing. No more hatched through the night so far but one seemed to be moving slightly even when the hatched chick wasn't bouncing into the eggs so hopefully well get there over the next few days.

    Early hatch out

I am hatching eggs in an incubator for the first time instead of using a broody hen. I had one hatch out yesterday on day 18. None of the others seem to be following yet. How long can I leave this little one in with the other eggs and should the others hatch soon too or should I still expect to...

    Early hatch out

I am hatching chicks from an incubator for the first time. Usually I use a broody hen. I have a chick that hatched earlier today which is day 18. The egg wasn't mailed it was mine and i took it from the nest box to the incubator the day it was laid so Im sure about it being day 18. Should i...
