Welcome to our Arizona thread. I don't know of anyone that is raising Maran's. I have been hatching out baby chick's, but they are the non-white Leghorn's.
The turner should stop 3 day's before the hatch is due. Then the turner should be removed and then you up the amount of humidity. This gets the chick's ready in the right position for hatching.
Good idea about that. At least you do have a rooster to be able to do that with. I'll be keeping at least 2 boy's from the BGD's. I like having more then one roo in case something happens to one, and it's better if they grow up together from the start.
I pulled out one of my keybonnex 12 egg incubators back out of it's box this morning, and have it set up where I want it at. I'll be getting the second one set up too, as it seems that I have more shipped BGD hatching egg's due to arrive on Saturday.
@Happy Novogens The cockerels that I plan to keep will be from the BGD Leghorn's. Otherwise, I will be keeping most of the pullet's. I was getting too many egg customer's wanting more egg's then the Bielefelder's were putting out. Next year I should be able to keep up with them better.
The...
Yes, but these Blue Gold Duckwing Leghorns are so pretty. I ended up with 4 of the Brown Leghorn pullets. I still have to sort the Silver Leghorn's out yet.
I've been cleaning out the coop and run, and reinforcing the wire on the run.
Sorry to read about that. I hope that your other one's will be ok too. Which breed was she?
I should be having more of those Blue Gold Duckwing Leghorn hatching egg's being delivered on Saturday. They sent me 24.
