I understand but sometimes it's hard NOT to "let" them do things. They way I have them now is that their coop is in the middle of this big corral where I also have 2 chicken coops and a quail tractor. I did it this way initially so it'd be easy to just put one electric fence around the whole...
It worked. I used to herd them in before (when I had Guinea a few years back) but I never saw all of them roost on top of the coop like that before.
Thanks very much for your advice.
My wife and I hatched 15 guinea fowl earlier this year and now they are about 6 months old. We have them a coop to sleep in and we let them out all day to roam. About 2 weeks ago, they stopped going into their coop at night and just started roosting on top of their coop. I've raised guinea...
Wyandottes are on the list. I passed on to the Missus about a 1/2 doz to choose from and leaving it up to her to pick from there. She tends to make more logical decisions than I do. :-)
Thanks much for your advice!
Gotta admit that's the first time i have heard of Naked Necks but googled them. Interesting bird.
Looked at NJ Giants. They are on the short list of birds I'm considering. Have to make up my mind soon. I think the only con I found with the NJ Giant is that the feed to meat conversion wasn't...

I have to admit I know very little about the Chanteclers but from what I have read, the White Chanteclers seem to be the better laying, more cold resistant breed of Chanteclers in general. I've seem remarks on chicken related websites that said the Partridge variety doesn't lay that many eggs...
Thank you for your reply. I was looking at White Chanteclers earlier. Rhode Island Whites as well. But the eggs were kinda pricey. My end up going that route however.
It looks like cold weather may be more prevalent in the years to come.
