Thanks for going for those of us who could not. I am hopeful that those who testify are able to sway the reps. But if not, I am prepared to do what I can to change things for the better. I want so badly to be able to raise my own animals when we get our own property and I will fight for that...
I'm so jealous of all the cute goats! I hope I can convince you all to sell me a few once we get our own place. :)
In further un-chicken related news, I found a breeder of American Chinchilla rabbits not too far away. I am hoping to pick up a pair of unrelated does, as there is another breeder...
...it wouldn't be hard to include a rider that will support suburban/urban farming.
The whole "you're not a farm if you are in residential" is BS anyways, because I could be a potato farmer on 2-3 acres, or have such a huge garden that I could run a CSA, but they don't consider that farming? ***.
My taters are already in the ground. They're yellow finns. I was concerned about them because of the cool weather we've had, so I dug one up. It had fine roots coming out of it all over and was doing great, just didn't have any stems peaking up through the ground yet.
Even if we get a frost...
Though Spring has only just arrived, I thought I would share this article with you all.
Supposedly according to these researchers, this past winter was only the beginning.

I've finally decided to get started in the only livestock I can own on this property: rabbits. But it's been a HUGE pain trying to find someone within 4 hrs of me that breed American Chinchilla rabbits. If anyone here knows someone who breeds them, please let me know!
@tori
It's understandable that you are upset over this incident. But It's not cool to become so defensive. Everyone is trying to help you. It is not confrontation to let the breeder know. Think about it; if you were a breeder and accidently missed something like this, would you not be horrified...
I've been practicing with a drop spindle that my aunt gifted me. She uses a spinning wheel, so had no use for it. I'm attempting a very fine yarn with mine that I plan to use to knit her a floppy hat. It is hard to keep the thickness even, but from the video I watched that taught me how to use...
Good luck to you on your interview RaZ, and thank you for the good news concerning hogs!
I have some good news of my own on the potato front. While the two smaller potatoes are definitely mush, the largest is still firm and strong, so I think it may still sprout. Since my intention in buying...
I'll give it a try, but I still wrote the merchant a letter. I mean, who ships perishables in the middle of the week? Ugh. It'll be about a week before I know if there is any hope.
...or Friday, and the mail had not been delivered by the time I went home on Sat.
So what do I find waiting for me on my arrival to work today? Frozen seed potatoes! OMG I'm so ****** right now.... Does anyone know if freezing kills them off completely, or is there hope that they will still sprout?
Lincoln Park, Southgate, Riverview, Wyandotte, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Allen Park, and Ecorse don't permit any sort of livestock, including poultry. (all suburbs of Detroit)
@RaZ - I'm sorry to bug you again, but can you post again the contacts we should harrass before the new meeting? I have a bone to pick, and I can't find the emails for all the board members.
