We have had other chickens, but currently only a couple game roosters that are penned up individully. We have a good size shed with six individual stalls, that are 6x4. Yes I’ve been there with the brooder box, we usually keep them in a good size rubbermade tote until theyre able to fly out of...
We’re around Fort Worth Texas. So hot summers, usually winters aren’t that bad. I have a small fenced in backyard, I was thinking about maybe doing a 10x5 run, but also letting them free range when we’re home.
I think the point of the slats is for it to fall between them and there is a pull out tray at the bottom.... what kind of small coop would you recommend?
We were thinking of getting 3. Well have a better run. Not that flimsy one. But I hadn’t considered the slats being troublesome to their feet. I’ve never had silkies before, I think my LF hens would do fine with it, but maybe the silkies won’t. We still have time to plan the right one, they’ll...
We’re going to be getting some Silkie chicks, and we found the cutest little coop design, made out of a blue barrel of all things. I think it’s roughly 3x2, drill holes for ventilation, has a pull out tray for droppings, I’m going to attach a run, but we also have fenced in backyard they can...
Sorry sadly my chick died. But he had a breathing problem too. I tried everything I could but I think it was his hip out of place and I couldn't get it back in, and nothing else helped. I have read people popping it back in but it's very hard because there bones are so small.
I had to help my chick hatch yesterday because he was malpositioned, hatching from pointy end, after about 12 hours of trying to unzip. I noticed he won't/can't extend one leg. I try to move it back but it's like it won't budge, and I'm afraid to force it any farther not sure what to do. Never...
On my third hatch right now, so far my percentages have been not so good, first one was 50% the second only 8 out of 19, but broody mommys chicks just hatched I saw them today they are so adorable! I love watching momma with her chicks! She got 100% hatch rate! Started with 7 all seven hatched...
They are doing great! It's mostly dried up, and smaller now. I did have one die, he seemed to have spraddle leg, and kept throwing his head back and falling backwards, I tried realigning them with a bandaid, but then he would fall over and both legs would go straight out behind him. Plus I think...
Help please! Two of my chicks just hatched and have like a red ball protruding from their belly! Not sure what happened or what to do, their both very lively but it concerns me!
Yes they were both struggling, I used tweezers and a warm wet rag and finished unzipping them and left them in the bottom half one just popped out the other is wiggling their way out
