I boil my fresh eggs with a tablespoon of vinegar, teaspoon of salt and shortly after they boil I turn the burner off and let them set on the burner for at least a half hour; then i fill the pan up with ice water (lots of ice) and stick in the fridge for hours. Go back later and they peel easy...
I have had this happen twice and I saw improvement within 10 days. The other chicks will except her/him eventually but do supervise at first. Good luck.
Try giving them Niacin. You need to buy the flush free. I found mine at Walmart. It comes in a capsule and I put it in their water or sprinkle over their feed.
Fortunately she does well with younger birds (smaller). The larger ones intimidate her. So I hope if I let them imprint on her they except her because the gander duck only wants to hurt her. Hopefully those geese will keep him in his place with her. Wishful thinking I guess.
She limped from the hatch. At first she couldn't even walk forward. The gander has only had one encounter with her and it was brief. She quaked loudly and I came running. She has her own pen and spends time with a sister duck daily. She eats feed in her pen but I have never seen her eat grass or...
Thanks for replying but I have tried to find a vet in my area that would take birds and the closes it almost 3 hours away. Do you think a niacin deficincy could take so long?
I have had her on niacin and baby poly drops w/o iron since she hatched. She loves to swim but I have to carry her to and from the pool. She enjoys taking in some sun but at best she can take 10-12 steps then she really struggles. Legs and feet look normal. I don't know what else to do for her...
She loves to swim but I have to carry her to and from the pool. After swimming she'll suck up some sun but at tops may be able to take 10-12 steps before I notice her limping getting worse. I can't put her in with the flock because the gander really hurts her when he tries to mate her. She is at...
Thank you for responding. I thought that might be it but then I found her under a bush with alot of little holes dug out but as soon as she saw the chickens she went running to join them. Also why does a hen always fan her tail too? He was doing it and it looked as if she was showing him she...
I found out from my neighbor that she is 3 yrs old and he is 2 1/2 yrs old. He had several eyes on his tail. She has been calling all morning (like a honk). Is there any signs I should be looking for to let me know she is about to lay?
Hi. I am new to this thread and to peafowl but I have a question I hope someone can help me with. My neighbors peafowl (1 hen & 1 male) moved into my coops this winter. They are free to come and go but mostly prefer to stay here. The hen has been making a constant calling sound today (kind of...
My largest coop is 12.5' by 16.5' and 14' high. She usually roosts on top of the run right by the door unless it is really cold then she just joins the rest inside. We have had a terrible cold winter this year. I have found lately that the male will go home for the night but she insists on...
My neighbor has a pair of peacocks that are now two years old. She doesn't have shelter for them they normally sleep in a tree in her back yard. But all winter I have noticed her peacocks spend most of their days at my coops and free ranging with my flock of chickens. They now are sleeping on...
