Bought a few chicks today, mixed pullets. I have identified red sex link and buff orphington, and a barred rock. But what the heck are these two!? The white one has black starting to show in her wings.
They only get maybe a cup every other day. She didn't feel boney or anything. I checked for maybe egg binding, but she was fine yesterday. I looked all over the others tonight, and nothing seems out of the ordinary
My not even 1 year old polish hen was found dead in the coop today. It's just my small flock of polish. I've been feeding cracked corn, layer feed and oyster shells. I checked her over and no sign of any puncture holes or any blood. She was fine last night. No signs of dropping or anything. So...
My first year with what I believe are polish bantams. I just put a few eggs in the incubator, but I'm wondering what color chicks I will get. My rooster has some red leaking threw so that makes me extremely curious. I'm terrible with color genes and any help would be greatly appreciated...
My silkie bantam cross. Not sure of parents or age....was bought at auction....she only cost me .50
And I felt lucky to get such a pretty friendly hen like her.
I'd guess it's a young rooster. What's the parents behavior like? I noticed the silkies we get from TS, the males are very aggressive at a young age. We hatched a few egg from a pair from there and the chicks would spur at your hands and just a few days old. We eventually gave them all away...
Yep! Tons better!!! No redness anymore. Still treating for a few more days to be sure. Getting around great and is eating and drinking well. Doesn't feel like he's dropped any weight. Very full feeling and heavy: thanks for the help everyone!!!
His eye is a lot better today. It was open and not as red. He found the food and water by himself, although he seems to still have a little issue but not as bad. Looks like he wants to try and crow, but not quite yet.
That's what I was thinking too. And thank you all! She is very sweet and a pretty little thing! I have a sizzle rooster I may cross her with. He's a splash too.
