Day 8 for my ducks. I put 35 eggs in and only tossed 5! That’s huge for me this year as 14 of them are shipped from another breeder. I’ve had horrible luck with shipped eggs this year. The last two dozen I tried I had a 0% hatch rate. I’ve hatched from this breeder before and had a 90% rate so I...
I found help on Facebook in a duck group. But for others in the future- she prolapsed. I went to get Epsom salt to soak her in and when I came back she had laid a second egg of the day. First egg was fine second was waterballoon consistency. The swelling went down significantly after that...
This is my current coop, it’s 4’x6’ not including the egg boxes. Chicken math happened and I need to expand. For those who are carpenter dumb what’s the easiest way? Hubby darn near threw his back out moving it here so replacing is probably not an option lol
Following. My pen is similar and I can no longer free range as a fox came to visit yesterday. My pen is in a wooded area and my netting I used previously collapsed with leaves and then snow
Last one standing haha. Assisted a bit. Backed off for now as I still see blood vessels. It’s crazy seeing the membrane moving and that little beak poking through.
no external pips on the chicken eggs yet. I’m pretty sure I placed them on a Thursday so tomorrow is day 21.
I absolutely adore them. It’s so difficult to find quality birds. Especially on the East coast where I am. Last year I got from Quacky Acres. I’m not sure if she’s shipping eggs this year but they’re gorgeous birds. Shipping is a whole scary venture so unfortunately I can’t help by sending some lol.
Well guys. This was going to be my last hatch for the year. One of the last duck eggs is zipping. External pip on the other. Today’s day 20 of the 2 shipped eggs. Nothing yet. Buuuut. I’ve been having such a hard time finding quality welsh harlequins that I bought some eggs from a breeder to...
The babies I moved into my big coop are still sleeping perched on the chicken wire that was on top of the separate pen I made them 😂 I made a bigger perch for them today and they hate it hahaha. Must be too tall. Ungrateful haha. But it gives them a bit more floor room. They’re being locked in...
Three more ducks hatched today. Did a quick check of the remaining three eggs- 2 internal pips and an external. So I’m giving them more time. I hobbled three of the splay babies and put them in a separate brooder. I’m running out of room in my house between the birds, the incubators and the...
