This just happened today!!!
I have 2 silkies, a Cochin, a slw, and a Orpington.
My brother said the Orpington was being loud today but the egg looks small. Input???
You guys I think my 3.5 month or english splash orpington (my only one- who I hunted down a breeder to buy it form) may be a rooster... :(

Finally got my coop chicken completed!! It needs a few more additions- Need to hardware cloth under it so they have more space and add a second roost but it's basically done!
I thought the beak was funny looking too! I don't know what that's about!
She's (hopefully) my only chicken that's from a local breeder instead of feed store too

How did you connect the legs of your coop to the floor?
I built a 6x4 coop and was planning to lift it into 4x4 posts cut into 2' lengths but even my impact wasn't working to get screws into that pressure treated wood
Two of the older chickens I have are silkies. Would it be better to try introducing the younger silkie to just these two first? Then theb3 silkies into the flock?

I don't know what's normal for hatchery vs. breeder silkie chicks but I'm so happy with how fluffy and how much color my 3 week old splash is showing ^_^ They're so cute I can hardly handle it!
