Ok so I checked her and her crop was not fully emptied. It had a little bit of food left and I gave her water. She drank like 10-15 times and splitted some again. I will buy her probiotics if they help.
Her crop is full now at 8 PM. She is preparing to sleep. I will check her crop tomorrow morning and I'll let you know. I can also post a video here showing what I am dealing with so you can see how she behaves.
Hello there. One of my hens for the 500th time pooped this watery dropping. She started it long ago. She is not lethargic or acting weird. She is laying eggs almost every day, eating layer feed and drinking. She also vomits water often. Her crop seems to be fine and she doesn't have any mites or...
I just enjoyed 2 of her eggs fried with cheddar cheese on top! It was so delicious 🍳. I kept the egg shells and broke them in small pieces. Tomorrow morning she is going to enjoy calcium carbonate 😁
Thank you!!
PS: Should I give feed her the membrane too? Does it have calcium?
Searching myself for rocks would be a good idea. I have a holiday home not very far from my regular home, just 1 and a half hour to reach it with the car. Anyway there I have a garden with plants and trees where I can search for rocks. Let me add that I have seen many snails in the garden so...
The shell it contains which can be seen in the photos, won't give her the calcium she needs?
Also, will this "sand" leave the gizzard easily?
My hen fills her crop with it almost every day so if she would get clogged, wouldn't this have happened by now? She still eats it like she can digest it!
I will show you how it looks like compared to my finger. The particles in the second photo are bigger because I edited it to look like this so you can see every particle in detail.
This is exactly what I asked for and this is what they gave me. It's definitely not a known or chain pet shop but seems to be a family business in my opinion.
Not exactly, I asked the employee for grit that helps for digestion and they said they have in stock. Then filled the disposable bug with it and I bought it.
The grit did not have any information in it's bag. In fact I saw one of the employees putting the product in a disposable bug and then sold it to me. Because she was not laying eggs then, I asked for something that helps for digestion but the fact that I see tiny shells in it makes me think it...
Thank you for your reply. I actually bought it as grit from a pet shop but I have noticed it contains pieces of broken oyster shell or whatever else.
I can show you a picture of the product so you can have a look and tell me if it is just rocks, mix, or oyster shell and other calcium rich...
