Hey, y'all! Once again, I haven't posted in forever! I've been very busy lately and haven't had the time. The bobcat that was previously getting my birds hasn't come back and their coop and run are pest proof. I hope everyone and their birds are doing well. How much have I missed?
How old is she? She may just not be laying well yet. Also, she may just not be a good layer. If it is PTSD it'll go away eventually but I'm not sure when.
For about a week, something was getting my chickens and duck one by one. First it go a duck and then it got two of my chickens. I finally figured out that it was a bobcat and we put a stop to it. Anyway, to answer your question, they will start laying again and mine did within the next week. I'm...
I think that she probably just got cold. Try giving her electrolytes. You can put Gatorade in her water or something like that. Make sure that she's eating and drinking and that she is warm. I hope she gets better!
Happy New Year everyone! I've been really busy lately and with all this rain, my chicken pen has needed extra cleaning. Because of the warm weather, two of my three chickens are still laying. At least I don't have to buy eggs!
As you all know something has been getting my chickens so I set up a couple of trail to see what it was. When I checked them last night there were like 50 pictures of a huge bobcat trying to get inside their coop! I will post pictures later. I'm going to kill that thing!
So, I was wondering how many chickens everyone has. I have three chickens and two ducks. I had six chickens and three ducks but some of them got eaten by a fox. I feel like I don't have enough birds and want to add to my flock. How many do you think I should get?
Do y'all think that I should get a rooster? I know this is really random but I just wanted to know. My rooster got killed almost a year ago and my hens are doing fine without him. I don't really see the point in having one! What do you think?
Sometimes, if chickens get a little wet (especially bantams) they start acting lethargic and stop doing their normal activities. Make SURE he is dry and make sure he is eating. Try giving him some electrolytes (Gatorade). He could have cocci which can be treated with corid but I can't tell from...
It is probably just stress from moving. The might not lay for a while either. I wouldn't worry about it too much especially because you know the guy you bought them from takes care of them. If there are any other symptoms they might have a more severe condition but I would just give them some...
