I've had some barred rock hens and a roo for three years. I know that's too long but they were mainly for eggs and have laid very consistantly for almost three years. They finally slacked up so I put two in the freezer and am going to put the other two in tomorrow. Any chance they're fryable or...
I have four hens and one rooster that are barred rocks. they have been very good consistant layers, after three years now they have finally slacked up. I let them out of thier coop in the afternoons and they run around. When I need them back I can call them and they come running, or I can simply...

Shortly after hurricane Gustav blew through the area, my son, was asked to go assist in the clean up at a local feed and seed that his cousin worked at. He loved working there and they were thrilled to have him so he continued on after the clean up was complete. Not too long...
lol I had i female and two male pygmies. my female was literally about to burst she was so big, well figured out why yesterday evening, she had triplets!
we have 4 barred rock hens and got our first egg the day before they were 6 months old. that was on 9-2-09, over the next twelve days we got 14. we are now getting 3 eggs daily fairly regularly.
we have three and they are very good escape artists. there are panels that will hold them and once they figure out they can't get out they are content, but believe me if there is any possible way out they will find it immediately, lol
yeah we have them in seperate pastures and most certainly feed them seperately. they do make a feed with no added copper for both sheep and goats. haven't tried it, for now I use seperate feeds. thanks for the warning however!
that's too bad mammagardener, it is really an awesome store with seriously everything you could possibly need around your place. well stocked and staffed!
I kept two roosters out of a straight run I got from Mt. Healthy. Only intended to keep one but my daughter wanted one as well as my son so I kept two. They are 8 months old and I have had no problems whatso ever, at least yet. I wouldn't worry about it unless you start having problems. Enjoy them
Is this the greatest store ever! In the past year I have built a chicken coop, goat pen, and fenced in a pasture for our newly arriving sheep, EVERYTHING I needed was right there in the store! I LOVE IT
I have 6 BR's in a 10 x 6 run. I let them out most evenings for a while. I put them in our fenced in yard to help protect them from predators. Haven't had any problems and they love it. Once it starts getting dark they wait at the gate, I open it and they go back into their coop and go to bed...
