I've moved food and water into where their boxes are, so she has easy access to both, but I think she prefers to come out and drink from the dogs water bowls instead!! lol
I've got a quick question regarding babies and mummy chickens..
Bit worried cos we've got a 35 degree day today and a girl on eggs.. She's been on them for a week yesterday, should I be worried about the heat?
Their pen can get warm, we do have a small sprinkler setup to help keep it a little...
We've got 9 light sussex eggs under our light sussex at the moment.
We did buy a dozen, but I have given 3 to a workmate who has put them under her langshan bantam :D
We didn't expect our LS to go clucky so soon... If at all... But I guess hormones got the better of her!
The only problem...
Yeah it's all good.
Both of ours are boys. Sigh!
And they've even started fighting at 4-5 weeks! They will be going back to the chicken lady tomorrow unfortunately!
Do you really think cats are ever interested in us?? lol
I must admit, I think I am pretty lucky to have 6 absolutely loving cats.. Haha. They may not always all get along with each other, but they all love us humans <3
I think if you got two cats, you may end up with one who is all lovey...
We got two 'day old' welsummer x frizzles at day old about 4 weeks ago.
Now I didn't look up sexing them until after we purchased them, but going on what i had seen for sexing at day old for welsummers - I would've thought I had at least one female.
Now after 4 weeks, we have two with...
Bit sad, but 4/7 of these babies were roos!
All of the wyandottes and the australorp!
Our Barred Rock is definitely a girl, going by her colouring, and the cochin and and new hampshire/frizzle are looking like girlies too.
Will have to update with some photos :)
Gosh so many posts to catch up on. I'm too lazy to read everything! :(
We picked up some more day olds today. 5 more. Two welsummer (one cross frizzle), two australorp frizzle crosses and a cochin.
I think both our welsummers are little girls (was trying to google while picking them up but...
We think we could feel little bones amongst the ball in her crop so fairly sure it's the mouse.
Will tryy and help her along. She's had some antibiotics this morning also
I am worried one of the girls has eaten a mouse caught in a snap trap and it may be causing a crop obstruction... is there much than can be done?? :( She's got a small lump in the bottom of her crop, but nothing else :/
Cute! I was just wondering as we got a splash baby the other week, but I wasn't entirely sure as to what it will grow up to look like!!
I don't know how the splash thing works... lol
