I have noticed one of my barred rocks is a little off balance and her feet seem to be swollen. Also has some missing feathers which I thought were due to molting but now I am not so sure. Any ideas as to what might cause this? She seems to be eating fine. She is about 4 years old..I have not...
I see what you are saying. Surviving is one thing and be comfortable is something else. If you have animals you should care for them to the best of your ability. I don’t think huskies should be left buried in the snow because the can survive it.
Our pond is 1/4 acre. This sounds like a good idea. I will have to see if I can find netting that long. They may just fly over it.
Thanks for your help, any suggestions are helpful.
I think that is why they are staying on the ice, they still have acess to the water and they feel safe there. They are in the middle of the pond and won’t even come near the edge. Only thing I can think of to do, is call the fire department. Not sure how that would go?
No garage is not heated. They do not have a duck house. I could never get them to go in their shelter. They eat under the tree next to the pond. I thought I might herd them into the garage so they could be out of the wind? They will not leave the pond.
I am trying to convience my ducks to come off the pond into our garage full of straw for the bitter cold nights. They do not want to leave the pond. Sleeping on the ice near the open water. Any ideas?
I am looking to buy housing for my ducks! They are somewhat feral and spend most of their time in the pond! I would like to house this winter so they are out of some of the cold weather and safer from predators. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OR HOUSING SETUPS THEY COULD SHARE ?
Thanks, Jeniep
