I have a broody silkie hen with 7 babies that are 5 weeks old, she has started sparing with them and kind of chasing them, does this mean she is tired of raising them. Or is she just playing with them. She still calls them for food and things, it has just been the last couple of days I have...

I have two silkies that are 6 months old today, they have never crowed and they have no combs at all, just like my silkie girls. However on the heads they may have streamers, but then again they have sheaths, like pin feathers growing in. If they are boys, shouldn't they at least have some...
Has anyone ever let a broody hen hatch and raise babies in the winter. I have a broody, and was thinking of letting her hatch and raise some babies, she has hatched and raised babies before and is an awesome mom. It just scares me they may not make it in the colder weather. Thanks
Has anyone ever let a broody mom hatch and raise her chicks in the winter. I have a broody, that I was thinking about letting hatch babies, but with winter coming on I am afraid they would not make it. Thanks
Needing to find a good home for this little silkie cockerel, he is about 4 1/2 months old, dark blue in color, very nice looking. I live in Broken Arrow city limits and not able to have a rooster. Thanks
I know that it is virtually impossible to sex silkies, but I was just wondering if size or fluffy tails are any indication. I have 10 babies that are 5 weeks old, some are larger then others and seem to have fuller tails. They are all the same age. Again, I know time will tell. I am just...
Sorry you lost your paint, they are my favorite color of the silkies. The black spots on the white baby are faint, so don't know for sure just how painted she/he will be. I would love to get some paint chicks or hatching eggs myself. But like you said they are hard to locate.
It is so much fun watching them run around with mom. As far as colors, daddy is splash, but the mom's are white, paint, splash and black. The babies look to be dark blue, splash and white. One of the white looking ones has a black dot on it so it could be a paint. Sure hope it is a paint.
