Hey All, Its been a while since I have been up here. Our 2nd coop is just about done! One side will be random bantams and the other strictly cochin bantams. I haven't been able to get painting like I've wanted to. All due to getting skin cancer removed from 6 different places. Wear sunscreen...
I did surgery on my Langshan a month or so ago. She did fine and healed up, of course it was a last resort. I tried everything and nothing helped...so I did surgery. She is completely normal now, happy, perky and EATING! Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Best of luck with Sweetie.
Thanks! I waited a day before I took the other eggs. Once she realized there were no more eggs she left the nest with her babies. Don't worry the other eggs were bad so they needed to go anyways. This is her very first hatch and 2 babies later she is one happy hen! No one chicken is the same...
I have been doing the yogurt as well as a powder bird supplement. She is being a bit more active but not 100%. Her crop is back to normal size finally too! Thanks for the input, just have to be relentless with her.
Hey All,
Hope everyone has had a good day! Quick question...What is a great source of protein for a sick hen? She is'nt eating much on her own so I am having to syringe feed her. I really want to keep her fat and happy until she feels good enough to be back with the flock. TY- Katie.
I get a warm wet paper towel and hold it on the bums for a bit. Most the time it comes loose some times you may have to pull some fuzz. If that doesn't work try and hold there butts in a cup of warm water until the poo is saturated. Then give them a little dry off.
