Found hen dead with blood in nostrils

Yeah, it definitely could be internal injury. It could’ve also been heat stroke because that can cause a nose bleed due to high blood pressure. What was the temperature?

Found hen dead with blood in nostrils

One of my chicks had this happen and I was unlucky enough to watch it happen but it was when my dog accidentally kicked a rock in her direction and it hit her head and she walked for about 5 seconds before toppling over and dying. ☹️ So I think it could be blood forced trauma

Hen trying to hatch eggs on soil

Usually the mother hen takes a daily food and water break so during that time you could place some straw under the eggs for some extra cushion, just make sure to replace it every few days. Moving her wouldn’t be a good move because sometimes they don’t like the spot you pick and will leave the...

    What do I have here??

Barred rocks is correct but I don’t have a clue about the lighter ones. You can’t really sex the chicks very easily this early on.

    Does he need an amputation?

Poor little guy! Hope he feels better. In my opinion it doesn’t look like something that would make the vet suggest to put him down, I would definitely get a vets or professionals opinion though

    Feeding oyster shells

If they need it they will eat it. As long as it’s in an easily accessible place for them then they will eat it willingly.

Chick missing a large area of skin after struggle with snake

Poor thing, as long as the chick has a constant person watching it or at least frequent check ups it should be okay just make sure the other chicks are out of harms way aka the snakes mouth

Hurt duck foot cant walk on it

I’m not an expert on duck injuries but it looks like it is filled with pus. I would try to open up the ball of pus and flush it with saline. I would then cut off the dead skin, continue to keep her out of the water, keep her foot wrapped, and apply triple antibiotic ointment regularly. After a...

Yes, being a chicken and duck farmer can be so beneficial but it can also be very devastating

I am a new duck mom and pretty much in love.

Yes the next night we heard 2 raccoons fighting from our large tree in the front yard and shot them both and had no more raccoon casualties after that, I have no heart for raccoons still to this day because of who they killed.
