Curious if you have a video. I am very interested in this. I am in the development stages of building my coop and run and want to try this method for the pond
Hi everyone! I am a new duck momma. I've had chickens for over a year now and love them. And wanted to expand to ducks. I got 3 lil babies yesterday. They're so cute. I believe I have 2 pekin and 1 khaki Campbell. I am going to let them swim tomorrow in a metal feed pan., making the ramp out of...
I only used a heat lamp a cpl days to help with the shock of the drastic temp change. And the cookie tin is on a timer cuz I don't have one of those temperature timers. I had it on full power and it seemed to make thetin too hot. So I was trying to use the timer to keep it thawed but not hot...
When I built my new coop this summer, I installed electric outlets to make it easier for fans in summer and lights etc. I have a timer plugged in to turn on every 2 hrs for an hour. It is connected to a homemade cookie Tim water heater. I had a hen just hatch 5 chicks this week and can't have...
Long time since I've been on here. I built a new coop which the girls love! And one of my 6 mth old bantams decided to go broody. I couldn't believe she wanted to sit on eggs so soon. But after several days of camping out on golfbAlls, I moved her to the maternity ward that I built in the new...
After weeks of the egg song and no eggs, a few days ago she started to squat. Today I heard the egg song... Didn't rush thinking she was crying wolf again. And found my first egg!! Miss Dot is 20 weeks old
Two of my hens started singing the egg song a week ago. And today, Dot started doing the submissive squat!!! Oh it is so close!! Can't wait till she lays her first egg
I bought my auto door from Titan Incubators - Automatic Chicken House Door Opener. It cost $140 US dollars. You can find it on ebay at http://m.ebay.com/itm/111181762030?nav=SEARCH.
I like it because you can use any size door you want. It is very simple to install and is ran by 4 AA batteries...
Well I have two ladies that woke me up this morning singing what sounds like the egg song.. I couldn't find any eggs tho. Nests empty and did a thorough search of the yard etc... Any day now.
I could almost cry, I had 10 tomato plants and pea plants in a fenced off garden area... If you flew u...
I have my nesting boxes ready. But the younger ones want to go dig all the bedding out! Several of the girls combs are red now and are acting different. They aren't squatting yet but they may not? They don't let me hold them much. Can't wait for eggs!
There lies the problem. Atwoods had a mixed bin of straight runs. So I am clueless. Because I got a RiR from that same bin and an EE. Everyone keeps asking me the breed. Oh well. Like I've said before. This is a learning experience and next year I will have a better knowledge of where to get...
I have seen similar pics of roosters and am confused to what breed my rooster is. He is so pretty Big Chicken. Here are pics now. And when he was little the baby one he is bottom right. Kinda looked like an eagle

Thanks danz. I was tripping thinking I could start having eggs and not be prepared. I have stored empty feed bags in the nesting boxes right now to discourage roosting in them. But I will clean them out and start getting them ready anyways.
Ok a friend of mine posted she got eggs from her 3 month old chickens. Mine are a little over 3 months old. I guess I should get my nesting boxes spruced up??? I thought it's about 6 months when they start to lay... Anyone getting early eggs?? This is all new to me
Wow. It's been a few days since I've been on. And a lot has went on. Today I finally moved my last group of chickens out of the brooder!! I have my kitchen back!! Unfortunately it is a sauna in the coop. I have a couple fans in there and all the windows are open. And some frozen milk jugs with...
