Welcome to the world of non-rev flying!!! Sometimes it is the best thing ever and sometimes not so much...but it certainly has been wonderful for our family. Dh works for Mesa Air here in PHX. He has a really stressful job, but I told him he can't quit for another 5 years til we have lifetime...
Final results (I left 2 BCM in there just in case, but no movement for a few days).
31 set, 15 to lockdown, and 9 hatched. I got none of my 6 BCMs, but I have 9 of the cutest ever Rhodebars!
...because I really didn't think I could do it! But I did the biggest one myself. Dh was surprised that I did, but like I said...it wasn't nearly as bad as I anticipated! Not traumatized, but it will be strange going out in the a.m. and not seeing them there. *sigh*
Easter dinner will be delish!
I don't see any pips, but I sure hear peeping from in the bator! YAYYYYY!!!
I am super excited about these...my Valentine's day hatch all went to my friend, so I was trying to not bond with them. Hoping they don't hatch til tomorrow afternoon when family and friends are here...but since I...
OK...I apparently wasn't thinking clearly when I 'accidentally' dropped more eggs into the bator on day 7.
So if I am in lockdown, is it ok to keep turning my Octagon every 12 hours for those ones, or should I leave it level and open the bator to turn only the newer ones...of course adding...
It probably was a car wash, because they checked it during the inspection of the house and it was 108!!! So the previous owner had a regulator put in and hopefully no damage has been done to any appliances! It is 85 now.
But our shower IS kind of a car wash...dual heads in there! Which we...
YAY!!! The Easter bunny laid 11 more eggs in my bator! 7 silkies and 4 Rhodebars (in addition to the 15 growing for the HAL). This is what dh said to me---> But I said how can you be mad if the did it??? This was me--->.
I made my waterers...5 gallon buckets with 4 nipples in each and they stay relatively clean with the lids.
Then for the summer, I took some empty gatorade/powerade bottles and inserted a nipple into each lid. I plan to fill them 1/2 way with water, put on a regular lid, and freeze them laying...
@ChicksOfHazzard
Just saw your photos again (made me )...and I definitely think that girl is faking it! She just wanted to get out of school for the day and go on a field trip!
...me! I may have two early quitters, but I am leaving them in just in case.
We have family and friends coming over next weekend, so I am very happy that there will *hopefully* be some new peepers here. If not, I will be out looking for day old chicks. Which I might still do since I need more EEs.
I candled the other night and panicked because they ALL looked clear. Luckily it was just a battery issue...so we put fresh ones into the Mini-mag and there are signs of life! Still pretty bummed out...looks like out of 31 I only have 11 swimmers. 8 for sure clears (all of which are my...
Can I set eggs in the incubator if I just treated for lice? I have 30 eggs in the bator that are from non-treated chickens...will the treated ones compromise my other eggs?
Thanks!
Going to set tonite! I have 24 Rhodebars and 6 B/BCMs that I got yesterday in the mail. They are from DMRippy and I swear she uses part bubble wrap and part concrete to get those eggs to not move LOL! It took me almost an hour to get them out without jiggling them too much. Very few have...
The fresher the better, but I have heard up to 10-12 days old will hatch. I try to use eggs no older than a week and stored with pointy ends down in the coolest, darkest room we have where they won't get jostled. How often are your hens laying?
Hi, neighbor!
I am also in STV, off of Gary. We don't have any Silkies yet but I will keep my eye out for them. If you get eggs, I can incubate them for you...just hatched 21/25 barnyard mixes for my neighbors starter flock. I *love* to incubate but can't keep everything that hatches.
