Anyone searching for Ameraucanas both Large and Bantam can always check the Breeder Directory on the Ameraucana Breeders Club website. The website address is ameraucanas.org. You may be able to find someone in your area who breeds what you are looking for in your area.
We had great hatching earlier this year. We hatched way more males than females, but that is the norm around here. We have a nice set of Black, Blue, Splash, White, and Self Blue Ameraucana Bantams growing out. We have a bunch of little cockerels crowing every morning and some of the pullets...
Where are you located in Texas? Our hens are on strike and not laying well right now. We have quite a few Bantam Ameraucanas in the grow out pens now. I hope to go through them in the next few weeks and get our show string selected. After that, we should have some juvenile pairs and/or trios for...
We have a nice set of White Ameraucana Bantams and Black Ameraucana Bantams. We have been showing them and we are hatching out of them now. We also have a nice set of Lavender Ameraucana Bantam chicks in the brooder. Since we have so many chicks in the brooders and developing in the incubators...
Thanks for your reply. It does answer my question. These are still too young to worry about, but I will not be running them together when we get ready to start breeding them. If I don't end up with enough to make nice trios out of each variety, I will just have to look for something to fill my...
All of our Hamburgs are Bantams. I realize that my last post wasn't clear. I am not asking about crossing Hamburgs and Bantam Hamburgs. I was asking about crossing Blacks and Silver Spangles.
Thanks,
E Haire
We have a few Black Hamburgs and Silver Spangled Bantams. Can they be bred together or should they always be kept separate?
Just Wondering,
Ernie Haire
Is anyone working on a Club or a set of Standards for the Bielefelders? We are probably going to start showing some of ours this fall or next spring in some of the shows that allow "Back Yard" breeds. We enjoy showing in those classes to get exposure for the newer breeds. We would love to be...
Thanks to Larry Duncan at Able Acres, we just got our first set of Bielefelder chicks. They are really nice, big, stout chicks that we feel blessed to be able to add to our breeding program here at Poultry 2XL. We have been watching this breed for the last couple of years and finally decided to...
Thanks, Karen for the reply. We had already bought a couple of new Speckled Sussex cockerels from Walt to go with the young set of Speckled Sussex juveniles that we are growing out. He was going to deliver them to Knoxville. The juveniles that we have are really nice. I did not think that I...
I know that the National Show is in Knoxville this weekend. We are having our Marans National there too. If anyone is going and has show quality Speckled Sussex females or trios of Light Sussex for sale, please let me know. We are going to be in Knoxville, TN this weekend at the APA Nationals...
Is anyone who is planning on attending the APA Nationals in Knoxville, TN this weekend planning on taking Light Sussex or Speckled Sussex to sell? I am looking for a couple of Show Quality Speckled Sussex females for my breeding program. I also have a friend who is looking for a trio or two of...
Does anyone who is going to the APA National Show in Knoxville, TN this weekend have any show quality Speckled Sussex females for sale? We are going to be there and would like to have a couple of good females to use in our breeding program.
Thanks,
Ernie Haire

Is anyone taking Speckled Sussex to the show in Knoxville, TN in December? We have a nice set of young Speckled Sussex chicks that are about two months old. We will be looking for a few good males from another line to use with them this spring. I am sure that there are nice males in the set of...
Glad to know that your Whites have started laying. I hope that you enjoy them as much as we do. They are still a work in progress. We feel blessed to have been able to get our start of Whites when we did.
Thanks,
Ernie Haire
Check out the website for the Marans USA group when you have time. It can be found at www.MaranschickenclubUSA.com. This site has the Standards that have been approved by the APA. Only the Black Coppers and Wheatens are fully accepted at this time. All of the other varieties are showing under...
If you go the Yahoo Group for Marans Chicken Club USA, I know that the breeders are listed on either the Data or Files link. I know that it is difficult to fine, we have discussed that many times.

I can't tell someone else how to run the incubators or hatchers, but we cannot get anything to hatch with the humidity that high. We run our incubator at about 30-35% humidity and hatch at about 60%. We have to run our incubators and hatchers on lower humidity to get our eggs to evaporate...
