We got four little Silkie chicks this spring, "just for fun" and had them a week before we noticed those strange feet. Had they not all had those extra toes I would have thought there was something wrong! Had no idea chickens vary in the number of toes they have! They're awfully cute though!
My girls have just under an acre to roam on, yet they stay pretty close to the coop. They have a favorite hang-out under a tree, in the shade of a woodpile, and around the base of a pile of hay, and they mostly just go back and foth between those spots. I'd beware of the dog though - I've seen...

RSL pullets. I have several girls that look just like them, and by far, the SL eggs are my FAVORITE!! You're gonna love the taste of those eggs, especially if they can free range a bit - yummy!
