How much Diatomaceous Earth per 50 lbs. of feed?

As a nurse I'm wondering about the affect of animals breathing in D.E. I also wonder about the possibility of micro lacerations in the GI tract from D.E.?

    Need help with dogs attacking

Forgot- a jaw trap for coyotes, tied to a stake is an idea. We've shot two dogs, and caught one.

    Need help with dogs attacking

It'll cost, but a cage trap big enough for a dog. If you are clever, a snare set at an entry point will do too.

Off topic a bit, but my wife and I notice the roosters forgo the best treats and let the hens eat them. Nice of the gentlemen, huh?

Ok I am at a total loss now

I guess legumes would provide the needed protein. I would have figured chicken feed would provide all the nutritional needs of chickens?

    Hen with swollen cheek

I almost lanced it, but she started slowly improving after being given Tetracycline in her water. I didn't know if it was gram negative rods we were fighting (bacteria), but she is better. We gave her special treats. She's slowly fattening back up.

    Under Siege From Predators

Do you think it's the hawk for all of those dead birds? I don't think it will get better.

Shelia is dead, and I have no idea why! Any ideas?

Hard to say, but it's obviously respiratory distress.

Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

My sister used a vanity publisher to sell a book of her photographs. That may be a good initial start. I don't know if there are up-front fees, but perhaps not. If not, you are out nothing but time and effort. Did you get my private message about bulletin boards?

I may be way off, but when a body decides to heat up to a new temperature (reset to fever level), it shivers to help generate heat.

Wolf or Coyote urine. Does it really work?

From hunting magazines I've read that urine is urine is urine. From a medical perspective though, I can tell you that what something eats can affect the odor of urine. If what I've read is true, dog urine may smell no different than coyote urine.

Do you look like a Chicken Farmer?

Aubery, I've always favored "reds" since two of my three girls are red heads. Red Converse sneakers? Anyway, people are a bit stunned at me being, "Farmer Brown", or, "Colonel Sanders" since I'm a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army. I dress pretty grungy when I'm working outdoors though. My...

    Why do most people marry?

It's terribly lonely being single. Really there are a lot of reasons, but when you aren't married the loneliness can be overwhelming. "It's not good for man to be alone."

What software did you use for you plans you posted? Supposedly treated wood means chickens/eggs aren't organic, but what is expected, allow termites by using untreated wood? Good, practical design!

Hen with swollen eyes can't seem to find a disease

My hen fights. I thought her right eye was gone, but it was horribly swollen. It resolved in two weeks without treatment. Of course, that's just one eye. Do you have any Erythromycin eye ointment sitting around. It's prescription for pink eye in humans. Personally, I'd take her to the vet.
