Wow feels like ages since I've been on here! My little gang are doing fine although my ducks have matured now so they are all frisky little buggers :lau I've ordered 4 new hens 2 being ex batts, 1 leghorn and 1 blue ranger. Hopefully I'll stop then lol. Currently getting ready for winter I've...

Ducks being kind of mean to chickens! how can I make them more friendly?

My ducks and chickens have lived together since a week old. Now nearly 6 months old they do fine! My cockerel keeps them all in check without hurting them I've even introduced a few hens and a Indian runner in the flock the first day they chased them around and now they are like a big family!

It's about one of my drakes. He keeps doing this strange motion. His body goes like he's heaving with this sound that's like a donkey come out! I've checked his crop etc and that's all fine and there's nothing in his throat. I think he's starting to come of age will that have anything to do with...

Oh gosh!! I will definitely pen them when that time comes don't want any harm come to the chickens. I've bought a shed so I'm going to convert that and put the hens in there. They will have plenty of space and more importantly have a chance to spend the day outside

I have two drakes that aren't sexually active as of yet! I was going to put them in a separate coop for a couple of weeks so they can all see eachother but no harm can be caused and slowly introduce. Shall I not do that? I've heard great things currently there are 140 in Devon that have until...

Has anyone on here rehomed ex battery hens? I've just signed up to rehome a few as I have plenty of room for a few more and it will warm my heart saving a few from being slaughtered :) just wanted to know if I need to do anything different or keep them away from the ducks etc. Thankyou

Your lucky with that! Been trying to introduce my maran chicks and Indianrunner duckling to the flock and my polish boy hates them he chases them round pulling their feathers out :he so have to build a new pen which is irritating

Thanks :D the good thing about quail is you don't have to wait aslong for them to hatch or start laying. They are seriously cute as chicks aswell :love

One polish chick that I saved from blood loss turned out to be a cockerel but he's the funniest little thing I had to keep him! Bad thing about quail is if you hatch all males once they hit puberty (which can be 6 weeks old) they try to kill or scalp eachother! I had to cull them all as the...

Be careful when hatching quail as I was before and got nothing but males every everytime! I have more luck with ducks which always end up being female
