Also want to add that I’ll still continue to do update pics as he feathers out. He’s so uniquely marked and I feel like someone in the future may have similar questions or be curious what theirs that looks similar will look like fully grown.
It’s hard to tell in the pictures but his black feathers are just sooooo iridescent. Mostly green. I soooo wish we could keep roosters! 😭 Hes so unique looking. Anyone in WI looking for a nice looking roo? 😂
I agree. Really wish I could keep roosters! It seems to be relatively uniquely marked as well. I haven’t really seen any like it online. Most I’ve seen have a lot more white to them. I’m curious what this one will look like when it fully feathers out.
I’ll definitely be holding onto this one for a bit until I’m 100% and will continue to post updates. I went back to the pics I took the day I brought them home and if I go by that, they’d be 8 weeks this week. So we’ll see what happens! So far it’s comb hasn’t really gotten any more red than the...
That’s what first had me thinking boy, but then the comb just wasn’t coming in like a male yet. I had held out a tiny bit of hope, but definitely not now! Wish we could keep roosters. I really like his coloring.
That’s definitely what I’ve been leaning more towards but still going to hold onto him/her for a bit to double check and hope that somehow it’s a girl. 😂
I’ll definitely keep posting weekly-ish updates! I didn’t expect there to be so many mixed opinions when I made the initial post. 😂 I’m glad it’s not just me who’s confused!
I wish I had a scale that registered smaller weights! Currently we only have one that goes in half lb increments. When I first picked them up at what I’d guess was maybe a few days old at the most, they weren’t really big at all compared to any of the other chicks there. But the two big ones...
This is what’s confusing me too! I got 3 EEs and all 3 combs are relatively the same as far as size, shape, and color. But that red seems so odd for a pullet! Although I’m still holding out some hope for now. Haha. I love the dark coloring too, so really keeping my fingers crossed here! As far...
Thanks everyone! I’ll definitely repost in a few weeks and see what everyone thinks then. Now that I think about it, this one does kind of act roo-ish. Stands up tall above the others. I guess time will tell for sure!
It’s definitely an oddball! I’m hoping it’s somehow a female so I can keep it because I think I’m going to love the coloring. Haha. As a baby it was just a light colored chipmunk one. It’s the lightest one in this picture.
It’s definitely a weird one. I’ve tried finding pictures of EEs with similar color patterns but I’m not really seeing much. The roosters seem to have more white to them and the red is more patches than small streaks like this. I’ll definitely be keeping it around for awhile to see how it plays out.
