Yes, I think it's good to ask advice too! I've been getting so much good guidance from caring people here on BYC over the years, I've saved my bird (prolapsed vent) because of this amazing resource and kindness of people. So, I agree, getting some things to an open discussion is a great thing...
Sir, I don't want to anger you... and again, I appreciate your advice...but I feel like you were upset and tired of this thread that day when you sent the email to the Museum... The reality is that the problem is continuing, it's not "past" yet. "Why?" you might ask...because if the coop...
I was surprised to see that the Museum is following this thread! But I am glad they are! It's good for anyone to use BYC as it's an awesome resource both for a sound advice on poultry practices and to see public opinion about the topic that's being discussed.
Yes, the Golden coop is not a bad...
Good morning everyone! And Happy New Year!
MissChick@dee, thanks so much for your post! No I haven't yet. As to "Why?" - partially because since I've partnered with the kind volunteer I keep mentioning, it's been only about two months and since then my friend has been trying to write emails to...
Most definitely! I will keep trying to get more proof on the bumble foot. Oftentimes when they're sunning far away from the fence my phone camera zoom would to weak to focus, it also refocuses on the chicken wire in front of me a lot. I go there once a week only now. But I'll keep trying.
I've...
The dust box in front of the coop/wooden fence gets about 3.5 hrs of sun in the summer, and maybe 1.5 hrs in winter. The other one - out near the chicken wire fence - is well lit, except in winter when the sun is on it for about 2 hours and then shadow comes from the adjoining shed. For the...
Absolutely! You all did - 100% :frow You guys also helped me see that they might have been reluctant to fix the drafty coop because of rules/law on preservation of old historical buildings... I get it... it's just strange to see their garden plants getting more attention/care than the animals...
I really like what you're saying. It makes a lot of sense to start with that, because of the nature of the museum's responses up to now regarding medical treatment/coop management.
Well, I re-read all the posts last night. Know I am a bit behind on responding to the posts (I apologize), but I am really grateful to all of you for such great suggestions on the possible next steps. I made notes reviewing your ideas and I'll share with the my friend volunteer today.
Since...
Trying to catch up with latest posts and my video searching+uploads...So sorry I don't mean to not reply. I'll catch up, I promise.
This was just recorded a day ago (happy I just remembered I have a recent video). I am glad they took the feeder out of the coop. According to my friend volunteer...
That's a good idea! I've seen three cats close to the pen and garden area. Perhaps the rat overpopulation is due to them being protected by fence and the structures with just soil as foundation. But I can definitely suggest that to my friend volunteer. Thank you!
By this I meant that I managed once to pick up the bird who seemed very bony, when I did pick her up - for 2-3 seconds, it felt like she weighed nothing, bones and skin (I picked her up to verify what my eyes saw). I'll try to be more specific when I write, so not to confuse anyone, sorry.
The...
OK, let's try and see if this will work/play. I'll upload more, but it's going to be similar, as I can't access the inside of the pen/coop.
I will re-post the video in a few min.
