Thanks for all the great info. We had a little cold snap and I used a heat lamp , but they were awake all night. I should have known that, but that's why I read these forums. The temps are only in the 30's and I think I will change the bulb and use a timer
Thanks for the great info and photos. I am just geting started with materials on hand and working on tweaking this to work for my situation. As time and $$ arise I will try some other more aggressive ideas that I have seen posted, but my chickens will see the benefit either way.
I just dumped the wheat I was sprouting in a glass jar into some flats that I had poked holes for drainage. Wish we luck. I really want to make this work.
I have had to move food and water around to either keep the water from freezing or the food from getting blown away, but they always seem to find it! I now have water in the coop and outside. I added a heat lamp and the girls seem to love it. I see them just standing under it warming up...

I found foil insulated bags at the Dollar Tree and they fit on my 7 gallon waters just perfectly--that and the frozen bottles inside and It should help keep the water cool(er). Good luck everyone.
