You can add braggs vinegar to the water, or just scrape your floor and put a liberal coat of lime down once a week, add ventilation to remove the ammonia.
A fall off isn’t really necessary as long as contact is made. Some bucks are less dramatic. Give your doe her 2 weeks and see if she delivers. She’s rejecting the buck now because she is/thinks she is bred.
Welcome! Why do you feel that she is having a false pregnancy?
How long ago did you first expose her to the buck? Is there any chance she is actually bred?
Have you turned her over and examined her vent? If it’s pale, she’s not interested. If it’s dark purple-y red she is ready.
Now that the Humans are settled, here’s some snaps of a couple of my newish chickens.
Svart Hona hens
This pretty girl came in my first batch of Svart Hona, the only one with the good sense to be a hen. I think she’s a Svart x bantam faverolle
My Svart Hona rooster, I haven’t named him...
When I’ve had cage aggressive bunnies I move them to different cages every other day. They tend to get over themselves pretty quickly.. in regards to arguing about her grooming- take her into a different area. I had one buck that was a perfect angel if I groomed him outside-but was a holy terror...
Hi y’all just checking in... I hope I still qualify since I sold the last of my call ducks... I did bring home a small flock of Svart Honas though!
For what it’s worth, my SS were Huge! My rooster was about 8 pounds and stood taller than my knee.
EExSS and Svart Hona
EExSS pullet, obviously from my favorite hen, “Stockholm”
This is supposed to be a 7wo svart hona... svart hona don’t come with feathered feet. /salty
EExSS
My daughter’s favorite. Sadly, I’m pretty sure that “Perchy” is a cockerel... he’s speckled sussex and either...
It’s been busy around here, cat died, he was so awesome it took 3 kittens to replace him. Daisy Pickle thinks kittens are awesome. Also did some rabbit grooming while waiting for the call that daughter in law is ready to let the new baby come out to play. I got chick pictures too, I’ll put them...
I wanted to add that my svart honas were a month old when I bought them-the same as my ee chicks- the guy admitted they were still in the brooder and under heat- they were barely feathered. 3 weeks later, they are almost as feathered as my ee.
I season my chicks —as soon as the daytime temps are above 70f they go outside during the day, and after a week or so, I turn the heat lamps off. I find that they feather up pretty good once they start going outside
I need to move my keeper chicks into the coop, they’re 8-12 weeks old, I’m almost out of medicated chick feed, can I switch them to layer feed or should I put everyone on an all-flock feed? I could put down chick and layer, but there’s no separating it...
