Our family just moved here from Colorado. We have let go of our livestock because we will be renting a home until we figure out where we want to live and buy. We'd like to rent some property, but are having a hard time finding anything, so that ended up being a wise choice.
Any thing new on...
You're in my neck of the woods. The flooding was such a mess, glad to hear you fared well. We have friends who lost almost everything. Our family and farmette are evacuated until Spring because of effects from the flood.
We live off grid as well, but that's because we semi-inherited an old...
When are you planning on ordering them? We would be interested in more runners as well, but are evacuated due to flooding for the time being so our farmette is scattered all around CO. You can PM me if you'd like.
I raised guinea pigs as a child and my daughter now has one. We love them so much.
Our animals, big and small, have a way of creeping into our hearts, and it hurts when we lose them. So sorry. (double hugs)
Sounds like we left Colorado right on time...not that the weather in upstate NY is much better, but warmer for sure. We've had several ice storms to make up for the temps.
Maybe wintering here will be better
Hoping all my gals are surviving at their temporary homes and that you all will...
Anyone have a thought or two about moving cross country with your Runners? We are in CO and need to evacuate for the winter due to the flooding here and headed to the East Coast to stay with family.
We are re-homing all our farm animals for the winter, but are thinking about taking our Runners...
So, sorry for your loss... I cried for a long time after a bobcat got one of my girls and then recently got two of my ducks.
I thought a racoon's calling card was breaking necks, no bite marks...but I could be wrong. Loaned out my book with a great list of "calling cards" or signs and never...
I wanted to stop back in for a moment and say, I'm sorry I ranted a little much last night.
There are so many people in such worse shape than we are in, reality is, we are blessed, even in all this trouble. While we were inconvenienced by the road washing out, at first, and now more so...
First I wanted to say: I'm so glad to hear that Beth's MRI was clear. I've been praying for you both since you posted.
I've been reading and catching up on the news for the past month. Hope to be more active around here in the future.
Anyway, I have a request for help to toss out there to...
Ugh! Don't like the mobile version of this forum, can't scroll well or get past quote to write below and I am way too old to read small print for spelling errors! Lol
Thanks for the offer and idea. We will have to see how it all works out. So far we are hanging in. A neighbor behind us already said we could haul water from them so that helps. We may need to find homes for the animals for winter to lessen the load.
How fun! My babies aren't old enough yet. Wasn't planning on raising chicks this year, then had an opporunity to incubate 40 eggs, only three hatched, & one survived, so rushed out and bought a dozen or so to raise with this one. Can't wait til they lay!
What fun!
Love this, gonna switch over! We've used colored pipe cleaners, but have found more have fallen off than stayed on these days. I'll have to hit the dollar store and buy up a ton!
It's been awhile since I've caught up on BC and this thread, but I'll say it's good to see a few names popping up saying they are okay. I have wondered for days how others are fairing in all this mess. Mt.Margie a shout out, old hens stopped eating eggs thanks to your advice...yeah, going back a...
We started out as chicken owners only. But then one of the members here had the two older runners and needed a new home and she lived within a few hours of us. My daughter is allergic to chicken eggs, but had tried duck eggs in the past, so we adopted the two last year. They have been such a joy...
Thank you for caring.
These girls (and boys) are favorites around here. We love our animals, quite a lot. I cried myself to sleep last night thinking that they were gone. I've cried over chickens dying...my family thinks I'm a little too sensitive :)
