Help-How to keep away owls & foxes

I have had a fox come in my yard twice and killed two bantams. I caught him coming into the yard the other evening late, but before I could get to a gun to shoot him he took off. How do you keep away foxes. My main problem is owls and maybe hawks. I have had an owl or hawk(not sure if hawks are...

    Guineas and snakes

Ever since I have had guineas, I have not seen ANY snakes in or near the chicken coop or even outside for that matter. When i first got them i found a black one dead that seemed to be attacked by the guineas, but I am not 100% sure. I really think they were the ones that did it though. Hope...

    Help mites on the babies!!!!!

I have used it on an occasion but I have never had any mites on any of my chickens in the 6 years I have raised them. I don't know why I haven't, but I just haven't. I have recognized that it (for me) keeps a lot of the flies out though. I was just saying I would rather you DE because it is...

    Hah!...found the nest

Quote: Yes, it was overflowing, more then two guinea hens, I suspect, I put all 42 in the incubator. If, I'm lucky, I'll have a couple more chicken hens go broody before the incubator is done and slip some of them under her. If I have a fresh mother hen with chicks/keets I'll try putting day...

Sorry, but you don't have to act like I am dumb by putting READ in all caps. I thought I was just trying to help out. I am sorry to hear that he ran away, but you should always keep new, adult guineas locked up for atleast a month before letting them loose so they learn their new home...

How do you befriend a guinea???

I think guineas are the hardest domestic animal to tame. You should have started when it first hatched, for the best results.

    Are guineas noisy?

You probably live on too small of a piece of property for guineas. I doubt they would stay in that small yard. And yes, most guineas can be loud at times.

Guinea hen and Chicken hen did a broody switch!

If the eggs were left unattended for a full day, there is probably a chance of survival rate of 0-1% because if they started hatching and she left the nest and they had no heat or humidity then most likely all of them died. That is just my personal opinion from my experience. Hope this helps!

Question about Keets and Chicks together ... :)

Yes, definitely. The bad thing is once the guineas get about a week old, they become VERY wild.

NEED ANSWER GuineaCockW/4 chickens, ADDED guineacock He's GONE HELP!

I personally think he would probably like to have another guinea to hang out with. They might fight at first, but that is because they need to figure out which one is the toughest (called the pecking order) and then they probably won't fight. Guinea roosters don't fight like chicken roosters do...

    Laying Question

I have a year old pair of Royal Palm Turkeys. My hen started laying eggs in the last week of February and layed about 5 eggs a week. She would go broody probably once in about every 10 days. I wouldn't let her sit on them and she continued to lay. Then it got sporadic- a few a week here and...

how do you find your free range nests?

Not if you don't take all the eggs at once. Always leave at least 3 in there all the time and they shouldn't-mine never have-move
