    Just put 30 cream legbar eggs in the incubator. Have put them all in but will split them up to hatch so that I can see what percentage of the round ones are pullets compared to the percentage of the whole group.

    cool, I would be interested in doing that, please post here when you start the thread in case I miss it. I would be using crested cream legbarsc if they are still laying so I would be able to tell at day old.

    OK so 20% is about the way to go for the best production but unless I missed it I didn't see anything saying 2% less protien would damage an adult quails organ development or shorten its life span. But I might still add some extra protien to see if they do lay better.

    Hi I was told layers by two breeders I know who between them have probably hatched 20000 quail. If you can provide any evidence so scientific study's that say feeding laying age corturnix quail layers pellets is bad for there health then OK but everywhere I've looked said 18% protein was fine.

    I have been feeding my 5 quail hens on layers pellets and getting 5/6 eggs day and extremely good fertility.

    For adult quail food I just use layers pellets. And for treets I just give spare bits of fruits and veggies.don't worry he will come to you and be friends with you eessy enough once he realises you bring food.
