    HELP!

I am a believer in dry incubation. I keep humidity at about 20-30% through incubation and leave the air vent open- checking air cell and loss of moisture when I candle and adjusting humidity to fit. If they are losing moisture too fast then add more water to increase humidity. Eggs vary on how...

    North to Alaska!

Hello, I am in Kasilof and have a few questions. I would love to have ducks up here but in the past I can't get my ducks to go into an enclosure or coop at night. In the lower 48 the fox picked them all off because of this. How do you deal with this issue here and is there any way to teach them...

Leaving the egg turner in and turning after day 18?

    candling help

Hey, that's perfect. Each egg is different and the embryo's do their own thing. But if you see veins and especially moving bodies you are in business. Chicks mature in just 21 days and things change rapidly each day. Around day 14 it's almost too difficult to see anything.

    Egg Question

Ideally the eggs do need to be turned before and during incubation. http://www.thepoultrysite.com/articles/166/care-and-incubation-of-hatching-eggs This is what the above link references: Many times a producer carefully attends to the incubation process but disregards the care of the eggs...

Leaving the egg turner in and turning after day 18?

If you can, use a separate incubator for hatching without the turner. The chick can get stuck or squashed with the turner in there.

    Candling Egg

It doesn't look fertile to me but do check in a few days and you should know by then. It should have tiny red veins spidering on the inside.
